My chica and I tie the knot this May and we were looking at honeymoon spots to hit around Thanksgiving time. Anyone know of a good all-inclusive type resort where we could chill on the beach but I still may be able to excape and catch a little session? Anyone ever surfed in Punta Cana?

bali. cheap as hell once you get there. can live like a king for $50 a day. the plane ticket might cost you a arm and a leg though

I'm getting married in July. We are going to Hawaii. Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. I know the summer isnt good for the north shore...but the south will be firing.

Funny you say Bali. That was where we were going UNTIL my chick got all scared about the terrorism and tsunamis. :(

Barbados isn't a bad option you can stay at the Crane which would make your wife happy and there are plenty of surf spots nearby.

The DOS is a great choice.... I have been there several times. Crane Beach....is really nice. But, can be a pain if you want to enjoy the nightlife...since there isnt any there. And driving back and forth can be a challenge esp. when you are drunk and on the other side of the road. :(

I would stay on the south west side.

Haha, that's what I was thinking. I don't know how you can successfully blend the two.

Haha nah...she is def one of a kind in her crew man. None of her friends surf....And, she probably wouldn't be surfing either if we haven't crossed paths.

wow. I am getting married back in MD in August. I wanted to do it out here in SD, but both of our families all live back east. I have dragged my fiance down to mexico for the past 7 years. She has been my personal video/photog. She doesn't touch the ocean and we live right on the pacific.

So, i kinda threw my surf destinations out the door. Everyone I ever spoke with in the past who mixed the two failed miserably. Although, i have never met a surfer, who is marrying another surfer. so that is cool. U r lucky.

With that being said, Bali is a bad choice. Nets, pills, 3 world BS everywhere. Great surf destination, but probably not good for the honeymoon unless you go out to somewhere super remote

I would not recommend cabo either. Cabo is ok. Surf should be ok in November, but its not really the best surf destination.... Better choice than bali tho.

Carribean is a great destination, but you will no doubt get skunked for surf...

Costa Rica is probably the best choice for the over all experience. In my opinion. Tons of options. That the beginning of summer. The swells FIRE that time of year down there. There will be surf everywhere.

    Thats my two cents....

And if you want SOME surf but more romance.... Check out the coast of southern france. It will be chilly, but you will get all the good romantic french culture and cuisine.

Going to Costa Rica for 2 weeks after my wedding in June. Chick has agreed that YES i'm gonna surf, but not all day everyday. 1st week staying near hermosa (obviously gonna surf)...2nd week staying at a more secluded non-surf area in Guanacaste....closest good spot would be witches rock..which might be on the agenda for one day. Give and Take..all honeymoon long will be a good primer to married life....i hope. Looking forward to reap all Costa Rica has to offer! can't wait!!!

one of my employees is a girl. She doesn't surf and just got back from Costa Rica. Her man surfed a couple days, and then they spent a lot of time in the rain forests and traveling over to the Caribbean side. she said she had a blast. just surf early in the morning, for a couple days and you should be straight....

I am getting married on August 28th, so that probably isnt a good time to go to costa rica, but I really want to go there too. The fiance wants to do the caribbean, but there really isnt much surf there. Also, this magazine we read on our last flight back to the west coast, this article talked about tropical honeymoon locations, and it basically said that costa rica was not as tropical on the pacific side as people say. And that it is usually hot and rugged, it isn't the same atmosphere as the islands are.... I dont know though. I've never been to CR. I have been to the islands many times.
