depending on the size of my refund, i'll be doing either of 2 things (hopefully both!):

    1) board, boards, boards....i love surfboards!! :D

    2) down payment on a new/used 4x4 truck

Put it toward a conversion van. I'd like to do a little traveling this year and try some new spots (especially in the winter - go south for some weekend trips). Got my fingers crossed everything stays good at work.

I am by no means a financial wizard but I think your goal should be to NOT get a tax refund at the end of the year. If you consistently recieve one than you are not filing properly. Essentially you are lending the government money at no interest. It may be nice to get the check at the end of the year but if you already had the money you could be earning interest on it.

yeah bro. i dont think people should be stoked on tax returns...it was your money in the beginning. Great book: Rich Dad Poor Dad by robert t kiyosaki. great eye opening, money saving, money making, quick read during a flat spell.

Yeah I understand we are lending the goverment money but you gotta think that our Taxes go towards stuff to make our Country work in a F'd up way. Most of the things our taxes go towards are probally not needed or the money could be spent someplace else. But taxes are a necessary thing just gotta suck it up and keep on keepin on:)

I think you are missing the point Matt. You are paying the same amount of taxes no matter what. But if you get a refund it means you were paying TOO MUCH per paycheck. You should change your filing status so you NET more cash per check and at the end of the year have little to know refund. The concept is instead of lending Uncle Sam interest free money througout the year you can actually be making interest on it that same money. Sorry for the buzzkill posts but I thought youmissed the idea.

Actually, I don't want to pay any taxes ever again and I've heard about people finding ways to legally do that.

NO I understand what you are saying about me changing my fileing status and investing that money the I see extra in my check to some sort of credit union or some type account with a high intertest rate for and then keep turning it over and make it gain a profit. I just like having that check coming to me at the end of the year . Its kinda like a end of the year cushin to me .

By getting your income tax back its an easier way to find an excuse to buy a board. Its tough to justfy to your wife about buying a board during the regular year. Now he can say Hey honey,we have all this found money so can I just buy this nice little longboard for busting my a$$ all year.Matts a genius.
