i second that. i can never end my session on a bad wave but if its a good wave that is supposedly my last i always go back out for more. its sort of like a craving for more.
I do the same thing. On my last wave, it is always either not good enough or an indicator of more good ones to come.
True. I think another thing, for me at least, is that after you catch that wave you're back on the adrenaline train. So really your tired muscles don't seem as tired on the paddle back out.
I share your "pain" zach! haha damn, it's beautiful in sd! I'm in santa barbara now, going to visit UCSB tomorrow and did a college tour at Cal Poly today, so it's a bit cooler up here. Unfortunatley, though, I'll have to return home tomorrow, and like everyone else I can enjoy the frigid water/air temps and frolicking in the snow! YES. hahaha enjoy the SD weather though! I wish I could live there year round. ****ing beautiful there! oh btw, what restaurant do you own?
I don't own a restaurant in La Jolla, I am the gernal manager. I will PM you the name of it if you are interested. While you are in Santa Barbara, you gotta hit up Rincon. And right around that point in SB is where the coastlines is fully exposed to every swell angle. SB is a sick town too. The surf isn't as consistant up there due to island blockage and facing due south, but the wine country and oceanviews of Santa Barbara are sick too. SB is my second favorite place in the US behing San Diego. Me, the fiance and the dog always take weekend trips and stuff up to wine country. I always bring the board and surf either SB or elswhere in Ventura. But anyway, good stuff. you gotta let me know next time you are in LJ man, I was surfing a mile south of you the whole time you were here. Anyway, have a safe trip... But try and score in SB tomorrow. The swell down in SD today had some SW in it which will fill in up there maybe. who knows. good luck
why not Jimmy Slade? Things are looking pretty good for middle of next week. Assuming everything stays the same I'm gonna try to get it Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
Unfortunately, I was too busy college shopping to paddle out at Rincon, but I passed it by on PCH heading back to LAX to fly home yesterday and I wanted to get in the water so badly!!! Yeah, SB is a sick town with some awesome architecture. Going to school there would be a dream! Imagine living on the ocean, going to the sickest parties at Isla Vista, going for a surf the next morning at Campus Point, going to class, and then going to surf Rincon for the weekend!!!! Holy Sh*t that would be ridiculous! hahaha Yeah, next time I'm in LJ I'll let you know. When I was there I pretty much stuck to Windensea and LJ shores because I didn't want to deal with any localism/get in anyone's way at Blacks or other good spots especially when it was going off Valentine's Day Weekend. Wow, General Manager! That sounds pretty cool. Yeah, could you PM me the name of the restaurant? I might have eaten there in my short 2.5 day stay in the SD area. Have fun in SD!! You're so lucky man, I landed this morning in the Northeast in a foot plus of snow. I'm getting sick of all this cold, damnit. Hopefully I'll move out to SD/OC area sometime in the near future!
Right on man. Glad you had a good trip. This winter has been insane. As close to perfect as you could ask for... My only tidbit of knowledge that I will share with you, is that if you attend UCSB or any school in SB, remember that UCSB has the #1 highest STD rates in the entire nation. San Diego State (S"T"DSU) is a close second.... WRAP IT UP =) P.S. Don't ever worry about getting in peoples way at blacks. Everyone gets waves there. There are no REAL locals there. Some people say they are blacks locals but unless they own a 20 million dollar mansion, they are a liar. Point is, everyone in town gets waves there. Its a zoo... but its not loc'ed out by any means. Tons of good surfers, but none of us start sh** with each other. Just dont be dumb.... Blacks is one of the best waves, but ALWAYS filled with kooks... My fiance can get waves there.
yikes! I'll be careful hahahha. Well, next time i'm in the area I'll check out Blacks and give it a try. Thanks for the advice.
