So, during my hawaiian honeymoon post, I was explaining that one of the reasons we werent going to the caribbean was because it was Hurricane Season during the first week of setpemeber, and I would have to get closer to the wedding and see a hurricane produce in the middle of the islands.... Someone posted and said that they believe that Barbados is OUTSIDE of the hurricane belt for the most part? Does anyone know if this is correct? I see that Barbados is like the southeastern most island.... Also, Bermuda is way up north of the rest of the islands, but bermuda gets run over by the canes right?
Yeah the Dos is usually safe during hurricane season. 95% of the time. But, there's always a chance. I wouldn't go there for your honeymoon during hurricane season though. And I say that not because of getting hit by hurricanes.... but because of the weather in general. It will rain alot mostly everyday (not the 1 minute downpour either) and the humidity is unreal. Goto Hawaii....I know the country doesn't wake up till Nov. but you will have the south shore to shred. That's if you plan to sneak a few sessions in during your Honeymoon. I'm going to Hawaii in July.....I know we plan to surf on our honeymoon.
that was me... I dont know where I first heard that it is generally out of the way of most hurricanes but according to wikipedia, these are the 'canes that have impacted barbados in the last hundred years or so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Hurricanes_in_Barbados I'm thinking of honeymooning there at the end of November. Hurricane season should be about wrapped up by then, but do you think it will be as bad with the rain and humidity at that time?
Hate to bring bad news but...November is the rainiest month of the year there. But the last week you might get lucky....Not saying it won't rain cause it will. But you might miss the huge downpours...maybe. The water is the coldest too in Nov. 77 degrees...ooh freezing...lol Good luck in whatever you choose
Barbados looks so sick man. I would love to go there and I'd take that over Hawaii for a honeymoon or regular trip. Not to mention its an easier flight.
Like everyone said it is generally out of the way of Canes but it does get fit. My good friend was actually there and it got hit by a hurricane so it is a risk.
