No sorry, but here's some related info; http://www.mindfully.org/Plastic/Moore-North-Pacific-Central-Gyre.htm
that makes me sick! When will the human race learn that what they are doing is destroying the very thing that is the most important to sustaining life? Our mistakes will definitely warrant consequences, it's ashame that the people who choose to take a stand against the killing of our Earth will also suffer. We all really need to fight hard against the greed ridden people who destroy the Earth for their own personal benefit, the fight is hard, the battle will be long, but if we band together, we can achieve anything! Fight for our Mother, brothers!
in all seriousness, if humans are such a huge problem for mother earth, the logical choice is crystal clear....kill yourself.
I don't hug trees, I'm just saying I don't like to paddle through garbage and I've done it several times. Plastic is everywhere and its bad news. Before offing themselves, people should learn how to throw their sh!t in the proper receptacles.
Well, personally I'd love the tree huggers to off themselves but I do agree, blatant pollution is BS. I wonder if some enterprising group harvests this plastic for recycling to make a buck AND solve the problem...instead of whining and protesting.
If people wanna hug trees, its their time to waste. People who knowingly pollute and litter should be punched in the face. You're right about harvesting and recycling, but I don't know if the overhead would offset the income.
but isn't it very hypocritical to constantly complain about how bad humanity is for the earth but at the same time, continue to live since you are part of the problem?
I never said humanity was bad for the earth. If you're asking me, stupidity is bad for humanity and the earth. Humans can help this planet as much we can hurt it and we're here now, so we need to deal with our existence. I'm not concerned with climate change (and will never give up my SUV), but I am concerned with ruining our water.
hehe. I am with you. Again, I have said this before on this site, but this is another American Arrogance. Its so funny to me, that in our capitalist, industrial nation, who is basically at the top of this list as far as Humanity goes, we really expect other nations and cultures to care about the environment and things like that... most of the countries that pollute and don't care are about what, 1000 years behind us in every category you can think of.... Until the rest of the world is arguing about taxes, free health care and all the BS issues we whine about, no one is going to change, and although we should do what we can on our own to help, its a problem that WE CANT SOLVE.... we are a small percentage of the world.... Until people in Mexico, and Thailand dont like in shacks built with mud, and dont have to steal and kill for food and clothing, I really dont think we can do anything about pollution, and global warming etc... Its a joke... And again, we are arrogant americans who expect people to take out side... no way... I look at it like this... BAJA mexico, about 5 years ago, some Japanese Billioaire proposed to open up a PORT down south of Esenada that was going to be bigger than the LA, San Fran and SD ports COMBINED.... The reason this was happening in mexico, is because mexico has Lax laws about importing and ports. You can ship a freight ship full of lead fills toys to mexico and pay no penalty... So, in theory, this port was going to kill a ton of american business... And with the proposal, they explained that not only that a whole new sity would have to be built, that the city and the port would nede about 200,000 people to live in the area to work and help the system work... So, anyway, surfers and environmentalist all over CA start petitiioning and *****ing about this proposed port, and how that are going to destroy surf breaks and ruin reefs and destroy baja..... So, this is american arrogance again, and because a few thousand of us surfer use that coast throughout the year to surf, and pitch in our $50 to their economy, and we want them to keep this place Thurd world, run down and empty, so we can enjoy natural coastlines and empty waves etc..... So, the bottom line is this... I am a surfer, I love those places, but when I drive down through baja, and I see the poor, the homeless, the hungry, the sick, and soemtimes the dead, it reminds you that these are people... Waves mean nothing to them... Crowded baja roads mean nothing to them... Life means something to them... Getting ajob means something to them.... And we are *****ing about them polluting the coast and ruining beaches and surf breaks, when the very people who actually live in these areas are so poor that they are dying everyday... They cant feed their families.... So, what is best for BAJA? The answer is simple.. A big ass port, that will dredge sand over the reefs, clog up the entire BAJA coast with 18 wheeler traffic, dump tons of oil and pollutants right in the water and generally kill any surf and recreation for americans along the Baja Norte coast... And why is this? Because of the Billion+ dollars per year that would feed into their economy.... We never cared about their mud houses, or their deseases, but we expect them not to pollute... Its just a joke.... The whole world is this way... Unless cleaning up the environment starts feeding families and things like that, pollution and global warming is the last thing on anyones list.
Zach i agree with 99.9% of your post except for one thing. i would not say it's American arrogance but more like elitist arrogance. this same thing happens all over the world.
Exactly... My point was that it's easy for some tree hugging, liberal hippy to sit at the beach in CA telling me I need to sign some petition to stop pollution in BAJA... I want to slap him, take his notebook and say, why don't you go down to BAJA and feed the poor, or give some blood or try and help with some medical care... Don't talk to me about pollution probs in mexico. Talk to me about all the people who die everyday from starvation and malnutrition... It is totally elitest, and young people in our country are the first ones on the bandwagon to moan and groan about problems that are much larger than us, and MUCH MUCH less important than WE think they are... Its just a joke... People make me crazy this day in age...
Yeah but we can keep things clean on our turf. I'm not going to start throwing my garbage out the window just because people in India defecate in their laundry water.
SB that is prime example of what you should do! if everybody concentrated on doing their on thing instead of complaining about everybody else, we would be much better off. Oh and Zach. If you do slap that hippy, kick the motherf*cker for me while you are at it please!
