I'm looking for a shortboard, something 6-5 through 6-10ish that would be considered heavily glassed. I'm hard on boards, so I want something that will stand up to abuse. Without going custom, can you recommend some brands that are glassed heavier than others? I'm a longboarder that wants to start shortboarding, but I'm not too concerned about high performance/low weight, etc Thanks
How come you don't want to go custom? It's gonna be tough to find a heavily glassed shortboard off the rack. The two don't usually go together.
i've got a barely used 6'5" wing swallowtail twin fin fish deep 6 channel bottom, and a barely used 6'6" double wing swallowtail greenough wilderness single fin deep 6 channel bottom. the 6'5" is at wavejammer, the 6'6" is at beach house. you can check them out on their shop websites. they are both thick, wide heavily glassed shortboards. In The Eye custom shaped for me by Scott Busbey in Cape Hatteras. less than one year old.
Njsurfer is selling a 6'4 wynn single fin there is a post in this section of the forum . It is a really nice board and there is pics posted too heres the link http://www.swellinfo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7454
Oh, and the reason I'd rather not go custom is b/c I have two boards I want to trade in. You might see them for sale here soon too though 7-6" walden Mini Magic 5-10" lost tataki
without going into tons of detail, all off the rack major label non-fish shourtboardshave basically the same glassing schedules. These guys are producing board for the mass market and most people want light boards. You have two solutions...1) go custom through a shop. Order a custom board through a shop with double 6 oz glass on the deck single on the bottom. any shaper/glasser can do it, the board will be bullet proof. and since you are giong through a shop they should work with you on the trade in. 2) ANY used board can be MADE stronger by simply stripping the wax and grime off the board sanding the hotcoat, and glassing on a 6 oz derck patch over the entire deck of the board and re-hoatcoating. This is a relatively easy project for any glasser and shouldn't cost more than maybe $125 or so.
Adding a layer of cloth and re-hotcoating is a good idea if you're up to it. Otherwise, only PU/PE shortboards are standard 2x4 deck. 4 bottom. However, most EPS/epoxy boards (not popouts... normal, standard hand shaped, hand layup construction boards) are 2x6 deck, 6 bottom, so you can inquire to see what the layup is. Another consideration is going to a mid-length board, which are built with a slightly denser foam and slightly heavier glass schedule. This might be a good choice coming off a longboard anyway.
i have a 6'8'' rounded pin made for east coast hurricane/nor'easter surf. it has an extra layer of 6oz cloth on the deck so nice and solid. pm me if interested. brasco
Check out some Fletcher Chouinard boards- they sell them at Surfers Supplies. I have a DM3 which is triple 4oz glass deck and double 4 oz glass bottom. most of their other boards are heavily glassed as well. You will however pay a few bucks for one of them....
i have a 6'10" shell shapes in Bare wires surf and skate, it is in good condition and is indisructable. im also hard on boards. Go check it out
I think that any post-83 shift knob will fit my manual 00 323i but I want to double check. Also, where in the world can I find a really, really light one at a low cost? Im thinking maybe an E30 M3 knob?
a shift knob from an E30 m3 will not fit your E46. furthermore this is not a BMW website. can this dude just be banned already?
Yeah, You have to do something REALLy bogus like say " What, no spongers out there that day? I thought they ALWAYS charged big surf." I guess telling the truth will earn me 3 more points toward banning now.
I cant give you a explanation on why someone gave you a infraction. You should take that up with them and not make it a public spectical
edge is a new surfboard shaping company thats starting up. cool boards nice, cheaper customs id check it out
http://www.matadorsurfboards.com check them out. local, and most boards are triple six oz. and logs are triple 8.
