Are talking about a technical issue or a forecasting issue? Last Saturday, it had us in the red, with the heavy chop, etc. I went down to Sandbridge & it was shoulder-high and super clean. This past Wednesday was the same story. I just invested in Surfline Premium. You can't beat "eye's- on."

Having re-read my post, maybe the tone of my post was off. I never meant to suggest that I wasn't appreciative for Swellinfo's service or that Surfline was better. It is not. As far as forecasting media goes, Swell info is, by far, the best one I've encountered.

The only reason why I even mentioned Surfline was to make the point that CleanandGreen did: You have to look. Living 20 minutes from the beach makes scouting a bit difficult for a working man. Forecasts are predictions based on research & despite the amount of effort put into it, it's always just that...an educated guess. Cameras really are nice, in this case.

I apologize if I offended you in any way, Micah.

Everybody else can kiss my arse, though. :D

As evidenced by your dependence on the net.

Some depend on technology to enhance hour lives. Others use it to make pointless comments from the safety of our cyber alias.

Working 45 to 50 hours a week and having a newborn is the excuse for my needs of seeing via internet. Using a beach-view camera helps balance my 30 year relationship with surfing with responsibility.

By the quality of your comment, I can tell it helps you cope with other issues. Good luck with that.

Ray I agree with you and I am in the same situation. With a heavy work load and 3 kids plus the wife to spend time with. It can be hard sometimes to juggle all that plus find time to surf. I rarely can surf during the week unless its really good and it has been flat for a while I will take off to go surf during the week . I try to plan my vactions around the peak in hurricane season.

Summer it easier to include family and surfing cause you can bring them along to the beach and have a family outing .

I just try to work things out as best as I can and as fair as I can to myself and my family. I try to check it in perosn as much as I can but I mostly depend on swellinfo's forcasts and the surfers views wave cams. They are both the best I think.

Watch the weather channel to know if da waves are coming...fronts,low's,high's..dont always have to count on the surf sites as most due..what would we have done before all these site's:eek:..i understand certain situations where its a hassle to get to the beach, but its so rewarding just going without checking the internet and its perfect..this site is great and is most of the time dead on... has its downsides tho, also makes the line-ups packed at certain spots b/c of the wealth of knowledge given.

When I lived in Long Branch, it was nothing to shoot 2 blocks down to the beach just to take it in. Those were the days! I'll live that close to the beach again. I just may be a 60 year old longboarder when it happens!

i'm with you 100% ray, minus the kid. don't have one yet.

regardless, living 20 min from the beach makes one's dependence on cameras and forecasts very high. after getting up at 6am for work and getting home at 5, i'm not about to just cruise over to the beach for ****s just to see if it's good. i'd like to know first. if i was 2 min away, it's a different story.

juggling surfing when you have full time obligations (work, relationships, keeping fit when there is no surf) is not easy.

...and THAT'S why we get "Working man's waves." When I was 10, a surf shop owner told me: If you're set on being good at surfing, plan on being poor. Of course that was 1978 & local surf shops only sold boards and Birdwells.

Things of changed, but when I see it going off and I can't get away, I always think about that statement.
