I'm the exact same way. Board's are like chicks: If you have a crappy time the first time out with it, I'm 90% set on moving on. It's not worth the drama. Well...that's the way I used to be before I married. I think mitchell has a good approach. That probably wouldn't work to well with women, but for a board...it's smart. In the back of my mind, I'm still wondering if I should've gotten an Infinity Rad Noserider instead of the Silver Spoon. Buyer's remorse???
I never try to take much from the first few times out with a new board. I bought a 10.0 Takayama Model T and hated it the first few times I had it out. Sitting in the line up thinking I blew $900 on a turd made me sick. I stuck the nose more than I care to admit because I didn't adjust. I was trying to force the board to work the way I wanted it to. Eventually I adjusted to it and its a great board. Just like girls - they all don't respond to the same stuff. Then you get married and you only have one in your quiver so she better be a good one - unless your Tiger Woods
Took the Bing out again, today in North End. I keep thinking the Infinity could've performed a bit better, but I haven't had a decent wave to experiment with the Bing, yet. Both times I've taken it out, it's been high-tide & mushy with nobody else catching anything. It's catching them, but it's pretty slow. I hope the True Ames 4A speeds it up a bit.
