I'm done with the Coast Guard in 2011, and I want to transfer to a surf school. Ones I was thinking of are UNCW and maybe Stockton...any other recommendations? The school of course has to have a lot of women and a solid party rep haha... thanks
Atlantic Cape Community College has 2 campuses on in Mayslanding and one in Cape May Court house . I belive they both have dorms and offer a wide varity of courses
can't go wrong with UNCW for what you're looking for. Take a weekend and go spend some time down there. You won't want to leave. I graduated there in 05. Flagler is also another alternative... but smaller
Stockton is ok academically, but the local area is boring and run-down. Its also not that close to the beach, when compared to some other schools. If you wanted to surf Brigantine, the drive would be like 25 minutes. Bottom line - not recommended.
do a forum search on this top. It has been a whole bunch. http://www.swellinfo.com/gallery/search.php?
Yea i went to a community college for 2 semesters and joined the military to pay for me to go away to school haha but thanks man didnt know they had dorms Yea I just threw Stockton out there so UNCW wouldnt be by itself. Highly doubt ill apply there now...any other school recommendations? Thanks to all the advice so far
Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL? Not too sure about this one I do know it is really expensive. There's also Florida Atlantic. Are we talking east coast only? Because if not, some guys will start chiming in about the west coast schools and their breaks. There's a few schools in Hawaii but you have to consider if you go out there you are not coming back...
Well I'm gunna have to come back to Cape May once every 2 months for duty for Coast Guard so I'd have to keep it on the east coast sadly, my one friend goes to hawaii and has been crying this whole week since hes been home haha. Im thinking my only choice is really UNCW.
Here you go, I did the search for you. Here are two big threads about the subject: Surfing Colleges Schools near good surf
Lynn is a great college, Boca is a pretty fake town though. Florida gets good surf, but you need to stay Boca and north...anything south rarely sees any swell. I lived in Fort Laud. for a while and had to drive to boca, jupiter etc to surf.
Monmouth NJ, Salisbury, UNCW, Flagler. About it. Im not sure about wave quality in UNCW or Flagler. I imagine windswelly lines with no juice. I like the thick brown waves of NJ and DE/MD. But warmth is also crutial. Cali is $50,000 so thats dumb. Im in the same position. Tryin to pick the best place on the EC. UNCW looks best academically and after all, thats wat ur there for.
