This moring was outstanding in Wildwood. Chest high Glassy Some ocassional Head High bombs rolling it . Best session so far this summer !!!!
Yea... what a weekend. Still some surf today, too. Hope everybody got their fill. Looks like more surf for mid-week, too.
can't really ask for much more than we had this weekend. fun surf, great weather, no wetsuit, bad rash..
Awesome weekend. It was crowded but big enough that the newbs weren't catching anything. I think not having to wear anything but board shorts almost negates the crowds.
gotta agree w/ that. w/ no suit on, i can paddle strong all day w/ out getting tired. it's pretty nice
In OCMD, friday and saturday were light side/onshore and fun even with the texture. Sunday morning was light offshore, glassy looked beautiful from the dune. But, the high tide caused all of the non set waves to back off a bit, and it was actually a little weak. The crowd factor was brutal sunday. First session in OC this year where that was really an issue.
yeah, the low number of rideable waves combined with the crowds really made sunday pretty frustrating. I think it got worse after you guys left...
Actually, we just walked 5 blocks south where there was a huge gap in the crowd, I had been eyeing for like 30 minutes. But the waves were off.
the wind was all over the place in mon. cty yesterday. early on, it was super light nne and at times it dropped off completely. from like 9:30-11:30 was prob the best surfing of the day. s wind picked up around noonish and just blew harder through the day
I left my house at 330am and was out at dawn sunday morning in OCMD somewhere in the 50s. I noticed a lot of the waves backing off too. It looked like there was an outside bar that would jack them up a bit and they might break, but they just kept rolling into shore. I had a real limited amount of time so I wasn't being very patient in waiting for set waves. When they came, I was usually stuck inside and would get tossed around in the shallow water they were breaking in. It seemed the high tide caused a lot more shore-break. Is that typically the case? I definitely had one of those rough sessions. My last few have all been good, so I feel I was due. I only had a couple decent rides and was having a tough time making my drops. I'm not really good though and I saw a handful of guys down the beach getting some real nice looking rides.
outer banks was so fun Saturday IN town (nags head/killl devil hils/kitty hawk) it was chest high peaks with stomach high lines all day with off shore winds and little barrels up and down the beach! it was so fun, Sunday the wind switched and came out of the North East and the groundswell weekend so it bumped it up but there were still a few waist high waves that were fun out there.
Maybe I'm too used to pumping overhead barrels and straight offshore winds from the winter months, but i would say this weekend was a good warm up. i wouldnt say it was awesome, because of the lack of size and sideshore conditions. good fun, good warm up. BRING ON THE BARRELS!
