i agree totally, the cops in deal really need to focus on ticketing people who litter rather than harrassing the swimmers. There is one cop who, everyday goes and harrasses swimmers out of the water in Deal and threatens them with a $500 fine. Talk about wasted resources. If anything lets get used to the garbage, b/c it brings that classic Dirty Jersey vibe :D

everyone needs to take a break from screaming about the scumbag Bennies who litter and point fingers instead at the corrupt theiving locals who run the towns (i.e. Belmar) that charge $8-10 a badge yet - somehow all that cash never ends up in the budget that pays for beach cleanup

It's really bad. Go for a walk on the beach any summer day after 6 pm and you'll see lots of trash; bottles, dipers, wrappers, broken beach toys, etc. Beach towns should really implement an additional clean up system in the evening, to prevent the trash from ending up in the ocean.

after your session, just grab whatever trash you see on the way back to the car. even if it's just a little wrapper or bottle - every little bit helps..

same exact thing happened to me in ocmd

i was very pissed like i saw people letting trash hit them in the feet from the waves and they just let it drift back into the ocean over and over again

The delaware state parks still seem in pretty good condition *knock on wood* I think the reasoning may be the fact that they hand out the bags to take your trash out in, which should be done everywhere. On the boardwalks there should be dispensors for trash bags. Also i think that going to a state park shows people the beauty of nature instead of comercialized beach towns and people dont want to f up the nature

I should add except for the fishing line that washes up on shore every now and then. FISHERMEN CARRY OUT YOUR LINE

I agree on the badge prices, and wondering where the money goes. A few weeks ago I was in Bradley riding my bicycle on the bricks, when a bike cop nerd barely whispered "hey you cant ride here during these hours.'

No kidding, it was like 9 or 9:30 at night
Barely anyone even walking.............so I followed suit, after putting up an arguement and went back onto the street, (thats barely lit, waiting for a car just to clip me)

All the towns have these rent-a-cops that bust balls on small issues, and when they have nothing to do, they creep with their sunglasses on at the girls walking by.

Why not earn your pay and give out a littering fines

If these people can go around not caring about our beaches, Then I can be that person who complains and gets my point across

Those rent a cops suck. I remember riding through Manasquan a couple of years ago, and two of them on bikes riding out on me right when I was riding past them, and as I was driving passed I heard one of them have the balls to say ''WOAAAHHHHH'' at me. I remember the days up there when there was one or two cops every night, and actually most of the time only on weekends hanging around the Osprey. These days they're EVERYWHERE up there. Same with all the towns north of there like Spring Lake, Belmar, Avon, Bradley Beach, they're all over the place.

Alot of people just don't care.Lets face it.These are probably the same people that would complain if their beach was dirty.Everytime I see someone throwing a cig butt out their window I get ticked off because I know theres a chance of it going down the storm drain out to my break.I also try to pick up 1 bottle or piece of trash after my session. If there was 1000 surfers that did that once a day that would help a little.

I think beach towns need signs that say "tourists we don't litter your yard so don't litter our beaches" Unfortuantly we will never win because were not paying all the money that the tourists are. But people always think that their one piece of trash won't affect anything

no...Many people when on vacation just feel they don't need to adhere to rules of decency. It's not just littering, it's driving, shopping, etc, etc.
