Waves at the North end of LBI were not at all shoulder to head high. The biggest sets were about chest high. Nice clean waves in the morning but not head high. Most of the waves were in the waist range towards the afternoon.

yep, i was there from 9AM to about 1 in lovelaidies. the sets were pretty good but in between it was nothing like the forecast predicted, and it got pretty choppy in the afternoon

If there weren't 40 guys off the jetty I was at in the morning I would have enjoyed it. Clean hollow shoulder high peeling lefts.

    crowds

Crowds are killing surfing in NJ almost makes it not worth the effort until the water temps drop dramatically these waves wouldnt even have made much of a stir if it was after labor day and if it was in dec very few would even know there were waves or care.. I surfed some fairly uncrowded spots this weekend but they werent all-time lots of close outs and even thou I knew where to go to get the peelers I also knew it wasnt worth the drive or the hassle in the line up to get them...So dropping into close outs and making a few with out the aggravation was my call...

i couldnt agree more, i paddled out in belmar on saturday and there had to be 30 people out there. that wouldnt be so bad if half of them werent sitting too far inside so every wave you got youd either have to bail or run somebody over. there were probably only about 10 guys who were actually getting waves everyone else was just in the way. hopefully this week there will be less people out since the swell is hitting on a weekday instead of the weekend, i need to find some nice waves to myself...

i swear 75% of the people out aren't even trying to get waves. they should all be allocated to one sh**ty jetty where they can just float around

other than 1 longboarder, I was the only guy out where i was. LBI isnt that bad if you know where to go. no crowds, and I was standing in barrels all day in Loveladies

haha for real dude, i was out for like 2 hours or so and there were guys out there the whole time i was that didnt even attempt to paddle into a wave, whats the point of paddling out to just sit there i dont get it

that sounds perfect, i think i have an idea of where im headed thursday then. a little further of a drive but well worth it to avoid the crowds

i haven't done any surfing at all this weekend or this week aside from cape may on sunday. it was rideable for a little. when it's nasty out it might not be so bad, but when the sun is shining, and that swell is pumping damn if it isn't crowded. this was a good past couple of days to just finish a few jobs, and collect some checks, and deposit them for the end of the quarter.

    Girls

Next time one of the nonriding surf dudes gets out of the water follow him to the beach.

Here is what you will see/hear, at least I did after one norider got out the same time as I did years ago. He started to talk to me like we were buds and about the waves as we got near the people on the beach. Sure enought as we got near these girls he starts acting like hes dog tired and says to one of the girls

" Hey hi I didn't see you on the beach at 6 this mouring when I got here to catch some waves. It was fun where you watching" I just kept walking. As he prayed I did.

Ok Gents I'll lay this out for the less quick in the group.

Chances are she was watching, but unless she knows some in the line up, thats all shes doing just watching. Not any one rider just some sufers.
So unless baby girl says yea my B.F. or brother or who ever is out there.
NORIDER is in and starts talking s-it on his skills and how cool he is.
How would you like to hook up with a real sufer, baby girl.
I'm the best you saw it for yourself. Did you see me catch this one and oh yea that one.
Well she saw some body killing it. It must have been this guy, thats what hes saying.
    "Yea I saw you"

Here the deal NORIDER is get the p-ssy off of YOUR WAVES.
Just thought you would like to know. This is an old trick on girls. And you.
There are lots of ways to handel it, if you want.
Tell him in the water to just GET THE F--K OUT or you'll drown him right then and there.
Or just watch where they go on the beach when they get out.
Walk right up to them and who ever they are with a just start raging on them as the worst almost sufer you ever saw, I mean really lay it on thick. Ask the people hes with if he was telling them about how good he surfs. Then you can tell them how full of S-it he is.
Thats the last time you'll see him.
Bonus Points; He may object strongly. Then you can show him some of the benefits of paddeling out over and over after really catching waves....Rob

I took a drive down to Holyoke this morning, because I just love that wave. It was super awesome but also super crowded. And believe me, you're not going to get alot of waves when there are more than 6 people crammed up against that Jetty

anyone out there with any details on the potential beach closures due to Earl this weekend? Probably headed to Surf City LBI tomorrow but not sure if they're letting people in the water or not.

dont go to surf city, almost every beach is guarded there. go to Coast in Loveladies, it's unguarded and an awesome break

oh, and where does everyone else surf on the north end of LBI? I'm not a fan of crowds, but I prefer having other people in the water when it's big, and I'm usually not with friends when I surf.
gets lonely out there after a while :(

i doubt anyone will tell you where they surf on north lbi. if i really knew of good spots though i would pm it to you. i just usually stick to harvey cedars, or holyoke. there are a few streets in cedars, and everyone knows about holyoke. there is one spot thats pretty good on the south end, but i won't publically blurt it out on here. i know of some places that are good in north lbi, but they are private property, and actually semi secret spots.
