Bro you scored you got some fun stomach high waves nothing that us guys in Jersey would call a Bomb but I dint think you deserve the thrashing you got. Being a local you knew where to go to get some waves alone or with a few guys.. Good for you!! but yea we got skunked in Jersey except for a few that claim they didnt and some people consder skunked differently I consider it being let down.. After all the hipe and surf shop reports saying grab your biggest board find sheltered spots that can handle the size, etc etc Sunday morning at dawn it looked like sh@@ and with cars swarming every jetty waiting to see some on catch a wave that didnt close out them jump on that jetty by 6:30 everywhere had 10 guys next to every rock in the start is was retarded so yea I got a few good waves and a lot of bad ones like most people its cool your stoked and you scored!!! But in that first pick is the guy laying down or crouthing I cant tell?

Also doesnt look like you were alone three guys in that first pic one guy ditching his board to get under that little peeler guy in the waves looks like a boogie boarder just calling it what it was fun clean lefts with a few people out who some of them being kooks cause if you have to ditch to make it under that wave you are a kook even if you live there and even if its a secret spot

Kook is a strong word, "fightin words" this day in age- when surfing is a F***cking fashion statement. What? you get punked, go home and think about it, fire up your apple and start recycling what you heard out there on the forums?

You dont know me, my spots, nothing. Dont go starting sh*t with strangers. I see so many more agro 8===> head surfers online than I do in the lineups. Im deleting my account, you have shown me the light.

Just want to put some clarity for this swell in Monmouth county. I had the pleasure of checking the surf via plane at 5000ft from Manasquan to the Cove. For all the people in Monmouth County saying you scored your kidding yourselves. Out of all the miles of beach I saw literally the Inlet was the only place holding the swell. But I could easily see 40+ people on it with every type of ocean toy possible. North of Deal was FLAT!!! EVERYWHERE else was closeouts!!! Even from 5000ft you could see the whole beach closing. I'm sure some of you, myself included, caught a few decent ones but by no means scored. We all can debate how the waves were but I saw Monmouth county at a whole and overall it looked like POO.

    VB was really fun!

VB satruday night was fun, NOrth winds slowed a bit was waist to shset high with long lines. Sunday morning was fun, with low tide being 4:50 am, the daylight swell ahd a great hour or two with the incoming tide. The inside would throw over a bit but was not a top to bottom barrel. around 10 am the wind got on it a bit but still haeld decent shape. Winds died a bit as the tide strarting going back o0ut, and around 230 yesterday it started getting really fun again. A few head high sets thourghout the day not consitent at all, mainly i would say stomach to chest waves with two shoulder high waves ever other set on a regular basis and the occasional head high crumbling wave. IT might not have been bombs or barrels bu i"ll take stomach high with power all day. It had enough juice to for me to still be smiling,, very sunburnt, my caloused stomach is raw, my underarms are raw, and my 35 year old ass feels like i got ran over by a truck right now. ALl i know is other than a few weeks in july this summer between the OBX and VB has been super fun. Sorry you Jersey boys missed out, i thought you guys would get the juice the way the storm was predicted to track. Yeah its a long post with all sorts of typos.

    perspective

Its all about perspective. I did not get barrelled, not even close. but i had two good sessions sat and sun. I started timing the sets and counting waves. I let the big closeouts pass, paddled in 50feet to catch the smaller stuff and got some nice peelers that were waist high, with a few chest high in there. Sure I paid the price for getting caught on the inside a few times. But you have to pay to play sometimes.

The Atlantic is not a wave machine paid for by your tax dollars to produce waves. Some of you morons have to do some experimentation and investigative work to enjoy the ocean. Swellinfo is not a substitute for understanding the ocean and your local break. And If you like perfect head high waves all the time you live in the wrong place. If you are a passionate surfer stop complaining and move to a place where there is perfect surf more often. Like that dude Zach619 (something like that) that writes on here all the time. I read these posts just for that dude. He always has a ton of knowledge to spread and never complains, probably because he is to busy studying charts and planning his next trip.

I had a good time at the spot I go and shared it with maybe 10 other guys who appeared to be having a good time. My good friend got some great photos but don't care enough to post them. Plus I think thats weird.

    IK- Add Expectations

Pretty interesting to see the different perspectives on this weekend's swell (or lack of if that was the case)
I enjoyed InstantKarma's view- keep it in perspective, don't have outlandish expectations. Have fun with what we get (or don't get) Yeah it ain't Disney world we may not get what "the internet promised"

Contrast that with "the studs" initial post - I scored bombs I got barrelled ha ha

I wasn't expecting much, storm looked to track too far east, winds around here weren't gonna cooperate. I had some good sessions- it wasn't great -Sat was mushy but I got to surf with my nephew who is a stoked grom, that is always fun . Sun was better but pretty crowded, but I still got a few nice ones. So a couple days of surf I didn't have to take time off of work, warm water, sunny. Sorry to hear Jersey got the short end of the stick.
    Sometimes peanuts sometime shells.;)

I doubt the swell from Earl will miss the East Coast, just hope nobody takes a direct hit

I'm sorry that some of you have this mindset that "It wasnt good at my spot, this kook must be lieing blah blah blah"

Do you research and know your spots and you will get the primo waves like I did. Its not rocket science: wind velocity and direction, swell direction / period, tide, timing.... Its all right here on swellinfo... everything you need, just apply it. I watched this swell like a hawk and my plan changed daily.

Your right - the east coast isnt prefect - but there are over a thousand miles of it and its pretty damn accessible by car / plane / bus, whatever. Hanging out at your local spot hoping for the best isnt usually the best plan.

The negativity pouring out of this thread is amazing. Moan and complain- even joke and call me a "kook"- all you want, but the way it all washes out is that I rode EXCELLENT waves with perfect form on the eastern shore on sunday morning. Deal with it however you need to.

Okay, now for some positive energy. . .

I really like the unintentional humor of your screen name "Leethestud." Saying it's so doesn't necessarily mean it's so. Cool move.

one part of SH not commonly surfed (no not the cove) saw chest-head high closeout barrels (breaking over a sandbar in 1 foot of water) that you could drive a VW through

The humor was pretty damn intentional, actually. Im not a bad looking guy but im obviously having fun with the name, captain creative (mdsurfer).

I feel like im working with the handicapped. The waves were good, dar, dar, dar. What the hell do you people want from me?

It is all relative. VaBeach isn't known for being the swell magnet of the East Coast nor for having nice tubular swells. For VB, those just might be bombs.

Caught some okay waves on Sunday in Assateague. Def not bombs.

It was kinda funny to see so many guys out on Sunday with their semi-gun Island sticks for our rather soft 3-5 foot surf in Assateague. There may have been a few head high waves roll in.
