You guys can do that too, I did. Sucks big time on the other side of your 20's. Just as your buddies are making good $$, taking trips with 3-4 weeks of accumulated paid vacation you are sitting there in your 30's just getting started. Into your 40's you are just getting going while your friends who missed the swells years before are winding down their careers and surfing more and more. Of course I got lucky and started a business that took off, so even after wasting my 20's chasing waves I am still chasing waves today in my mid 40's .
yeah, that's my hope. i'm only 25, but in 10 yrs, i'll hopefully have a high paying job w/ a lot of vacation time. that'd mean big time surf/snowboard trips and the ability to call out w/ out worry when ti's good. until then, it's praying for weekend swells, using sick days wisely and squeezing in DPs and after work sessions.
Some of us are unemployed because of layoffs that were out of our control and I can assure you that we also paid taxes before becoming unemployed. Furthermore, some of us have decided to go back to school full-time while being unemployed so it is not as if we are just "out catching swells", even though it may seem like it. Even furthermore, some of us who are back in school do more work than some who are gainfully employed. Food for thought.
Appears to be building now on the Belmar cam but wind is messing it up. Hard to tell, but looks fun on the cam.
i think that situation is not in the majority. i'm sure those laid off were definitely not happy about it. i guess being able to surf often is a consolation. i don't htink that's the type of people this thread is referring to.
I must agree. Looks like another ****ty hurricane swell. I thought these things were supposed to bring us good waves...
Yeah, no doubt. I was just making a point of saying that not all of us are taking advantage of collecting unemployment checks and some are even trying to make themselves more in demand during the downtime. Yeah, I probably have a little more flexibility in my surfing schedule than a nine to fiver, so perhaps you reserve the right to hate just a little.
The sandbars in parts of Monmouth are really messed up too. And the backwash coming back on the beach was like 3ft at times making taking off incredibly difficult.
Yeah you got it. It's unemployed people that are screwing you up. Not a system where 90% of the wealth is owned by the top 2% haha Your the sucker if you believe that! They got you thinking just the way they want.
