Got the link? I'm not a real "surfer" because I don't go out in winter. I was telling you that I am real(bodyboarder) and I know how to catch waves. I'm not instigating anything. Waiting for the link?

I never made a personal attack against you or anyone in this thread. I simply am voicing my opinion.

I don't need to except anything. I can disagree with you. It's a free country and you can disagree with me. I don't drop in on people with my sponge on purpose. Why would I put myself in the way of someone's hard surf board? So I can get hit in the head an knocked out or badly cut? No thanks. I've never had a collision. Ever.

You said I couldn't take having it thrown back at me. I never reported/flagged anyone in this thread. I'm not going to argue with the moderator anyway. It's like arguing with a cop. You always lose. I don't want to get banned. Have a good one!

Ha! I love this comparison. I assume that you are trying to say that the west coast is more hardcore than the east coast, yeah? I have done both and although backcountry is certainly more fun out west, the east coast is the real proving ground. If you can ride our hardpack/icy/death cookie conditions, you can ride anywhere. I'm not saying that we have the best mountains to ride but we sure as **** don't have nice soft powder (not counting the two blizzards from last year) to break our falls.

Before I go to bed, I'm talking backcountry extreme terrain, quality of terrain, vertical drop, length of season, lack of crowds, and POWDER. Everyone knows out west has better mountains. Real proving ground? Yeah try valdez alaska area and some of the extreme skiing out there.Sure skiing on ice garbage is tough. No question there, but who the hell wants to ski on that crap!? Sure lot's of ski racers train out east. I'm not talking about technical racing anyway. Honestly this stuff is as juvenile as sega vs. nintendo. People are just being "homers" defending their turf knowing full well what the real deal is. I can't believe I wasted this much time on this. This is addictive. BYE!

One of every 10 cars here in VB has a WRV decal on their car, but I find it hard to believe that these guys are surfers. So I say it's just a fashion statement here. It looks crowded because of the damn surf laws/zones, which I think are dumb as hell.

I would LOVE to be able to go out and have the aloha spirit in the water but that is just not reality and hasn't been since the late 60s. All the things some people hate like localism, enforcement, being called a kook, etc came about due to necessity caused by crowds of people who refused to learn the correct way. If everybody learned etiquette and practiced it, alot of the bad vibe in the water wouldn't exist. One simple rule would solve alot of it and that is DON"T PADDLE OUT AT THE BEST BREAKS IF YOU DON"T HAVE A SOLID ABILITY! However too many people think they are entitled to paddle out wherever they want to without regard to anybody else. Legally I guess they can but the reality is that if you go out and negatively impact others sessions due to YOUR lack of ability, then you will be vibed.

I love East Coast / West Coast comparisons. - In my opinion - if you can Ski / Surf East Coast you can tear it up on the West Coast. Most capable west coast skiers struggle to deal with our conditions here. Same with surfing.....
Also - localism is alive as its ever been. I try to "Chill" & "Spread the Love" but it is hard sometimes. I surfed a couple of new areas this summer and didn't feel welcome even though I showed respect and held my own. People just didnt want a new face there and this was early in the morning before the kook patrol. Nothing was said but the negative vibe was there. It makes you appreciate your local breaks that much more.

Also, NJ surfers do not get the respect they deserve. We deal with and surf what comes to us. We adapt quickly to any conditions anywhere vs other people who bitc! and complain that its not clean enough, the intervals are not long enough, its not big enough, its not warm enough, blah, blah, blah ..... I've been on enough trips to see these cry babies. They would sell their boards if the lived here.

Have you been to Hawaii??? There are plenty on the NS in the lineup who would prefer to crack your head open with the ukulele than sing a happy Aloha song. Take a ride over to the west side & see how Aloha the vibe is. Don't get me wrong, most all the the people I came in contact with were nothing but extreme Aloha, but I also know that I benefitted from being friends with longtime westside locals.

Riding waves is about fun, but if you are having fun & someone paddles out straight to peak, is loud & acting a d!ck. NO ALOHA! Same goes for those who are kooking it up not knowing the basic etiquette of wave riding. No dropping in, stay out of the way when inside paddling back out.

surfing is not about where youre at, how cold the water is, or how big the wave is. its about paddling out and having fun, as soon as you lose yourself and are no longer having fun then you need to take a look at why youre even out there in the first place. be happy with where you are and what you have instead of wishing you were somewhere else and complaining that it sucks all the time. if you dont like it go somewhere else and do something else instead of bringing negative vibes to what should be a positive thing

Exactly. I love how so many people come on here and basically say 'if you don't like how I act in the water then YOU need to move, not me. I'm entitled to do what I want even though it is ruin other peoples session'. These are the same people who constantly whine about getting vibed and called kook.

Are you not that addicted to riding waves & only do it a few months out of the year? If not, then of course you wouldn't understand why we like when so called "summer locals or weekenders" disappear during the colder temps. Or why there is a pecking order.

Why are you here on the east coast if it is so much better elsewhere. School, job?? They have better ones elsewhere correct?

You not being a "real" surfer is not as much about you "NOT" riding in winter, which I would assume most everyone on here does. It's about your statement of not liking "heavy barrels" & lovin BIG easy rollin' breaks. Sounds more like a new summertime SUP rider.

I like having fun, not being pounded. I like a nice relaxing fun big session. When it gets really hollow it gets dangerous and rough. Not hard to understand.
