Want to put my request in for days off work for next week and I was just wondering if the swell models that are saying Thursday we should start seeing some swell are fairly accurate? I just dont want to take a day off for nothing. What do you guys think?
this is dependent upon TS Igor... As of now, it looks like ground swells will start to fill in by the end of the work week, which would build into the weekend. working aggressively on fixing the swellinfo model overcalls on hurricane force wind scenarios... should be able to get this in place in time by Igor.
I agree completely about after Wednesday, I was leaning more towards half day Thursday and all day Friday but well see what happens, thanks for the info!
yeah, Igor looks like a mutant, CAT 3 by Wednesday and it hasn't even entered the gulf stream, looks like this could be the storm of the decade...or not...lol
Time will tell. Strong high in the North Atlantic may dictate a similiar track to that of Danielle. Not quite sure about storm strength yet. I hope more than Danielle. Read your buoys!!!!!
I'd say at this point thursday will be pretty small, and we could see some rise in ground swells around Friday. The upgrade to the swellinfo wave model is near, and will go into place within the next 24 hours. This is to correct the forecast overcall on hurricane force wind scenarios.
update has been successful. I'd say Friday is looking appetizing right now with potential offshore winds. Swell will grow into the weekend, but winds aren't looking as promising for the east facing areas...
I looked at the swell map and it looks like this hurricane swell is gonna miss monmouth county.... again (danielle )
yes, i agree... The long period SE swell is getting refracted away from Monmouth County due to the offshore canyon... If the swell direction is more SSE than it is not a problem. South of Monmouth County should be fine as it was with Danielle.
I hope it ends up more of a SSE swell. If the current forecasts hold, the swell angle looks to be similar to Danielle, which means many spots closed out.
I hear that. I have been traveling south lately. Some of the breaks in northern MoCo are actually too protected.
Totally. I was out around 4-7pm and there were some bombs! There were kooks trying to get past the impact zone for 15-20 minutes before heading back to the beach. Much better than drowning!
