I have an old zipperless Billabong suit, proablaby 8 years old, she is tired, no holes or anything but no the most flexible thing compared to todays rubber. Anyway I have a chance at gettting a Quiksilver Cell 6 suit and I think this was their top of the line suit in 07 or 08 , the thing is new with tags still on it for a pretty cheap price. I need a 3/2 for late fall and early/late spring here in VB/OBX area. Are these suits pretty flexible and sealed? it worth buying? Anybody ever had one?
i have 2 CL5s a 4/3 and 3/2 and theyre awesome. they are the step above the CL6 but i think the 6 is still a really good suit. if youre familiar with quiksilvers new suits at all the CL5 is now the Cypher and the CL6 is now the Ignite. i would get it if its a good price, i got mine for cheap and love em, the 3/2 is a chest zip which adds a lot more flexibility to the suit, but the 4/3 is still really flexible
Thanks Thanks alot. I may just pull the trigger I just hate to spend $100 on a Quik suit that i cant find out much about, i dont see the extrenal taped seams i want.
The cell 6 is the best 4 mil on the market from 06-08. I still have mine because every summer, i send it to quicksilver to get resealed, and every year, they send me a brand new one for free... Im holding on the mine until its dead. Its a shame they stopped making it. It feels like a 2 mil. You have so much mobility and warmth. I have the plain back zip. It is the money. For sure.... If anyone knows where I can find them online, I would buy one.
ohh, and over the past five years, ive had the ripcurl Fbomb, the oneill psycho 1 and 2. And I also an excel suit. I am comparing the cell to those suits. It beat them in every category. Warmth, comfort and durability.
dude theyre all over ebay. check out the "bargain sports" store or their website at bargainsports.net. i got both my CL5s from them for about $50 a piece brand new, ive seen CL6s go for like $40 too depending on what thickness you want
now that you mention it, the CL5 could arguably be better. I had 2 of those. That one had even thinner material, without the blue underlayer, so i feel like that one was really solid. It was thinner than the 6, but still really warm. I would take either. I will check it out. I actually have my C5 in the closet, it has a rip around the neck, but other than that its solid. I could get it patched up.
The Cell 6 im looking at is the 2008 top of the line Cell 6, from what i can tell they had two models, the Glued and blind stitcheed moel and the HFT model withich head the Hollow Fiber technology neoprene and liquid taped seams and the water barrier at the neck. Anyway im trying to buy it, i figured its better than any 2010 suit for under $200, heard great things on surfermag's forum about them too.
I pulled the trigger Thanks guys form your reviews and the reivews from the Surfermag forum i decided to buy the suit. ITs the 2007 quik cell 6 with hollow fiber technology wiht the liquid flex seal tape. So its a sealed suit and has the short back zip with the water barrier at the neck. ONe piece of neopren from the under arms to the ankles. I heard this is a great suit and for $122 including shipping i dont htink I did too bad. Now to sell my 2003 Billbong soultion 3/2 zipperless, at 35 years old i cant fight that neck entry anymore.
yeah man definitely check them out on there, you can find some sick deals. my 4/3 has the neck water barrier thing that you pull over your head before you zip up the back and it works awesome, no water gets in past it. i just got the 3/2 a couple weeks ago but love it so far, its a chest zip and a little harder to get in and out of but its so comfortable and flexible and for $50 i think it was a steal
yup. The only issue that I have had with this suit, both years, which is why I sent it back to have it resealed, is the back panel on it. If you will notice, there are like 3 long vertical rubber lines that run along the rubber back panel. After using it alot in the hot sun in the winter, the back rubber kind of broke down, and there were splits in between the long rubber perferations. No big deal, and it was a sun issue more than anything, but just be careful taking it on and off and storing it out of the sun, because those vertical lines will seperate and create some leakage. best suit ever though.
found something IT seems to be alot of Quik cell 6 GBS suits out on Ebay but if you look around enough you can find the HFT, which was the better model. Anyway if anyone has a premium Surfline account (you may not need a premium membership) but in the gear reviews they have a video of the first QUik cell suits the 06 models (they dindt change alot between 06 and 08) and it shows what these suits are all about for anyone possibly looking into a cheap new suit, for $122 its a nicer suit than any entry level suit and being I only need it for 4 months at most out the year it will last me awhile. Hope its as good as people say, should get to try it out tomorrow if the mail man gets here in time
