This is true. They have already started. They were all set up at 140th st OCMD a few weeks ago and they have moved down to 134th St last weekend.

In Delaware it's Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, S. Bethany and Fenwick according to WGMD news. The Delaware Congressional Delegation requested the funds for replenishment in direct response to Hurricane Ida and last year's N'Easter. Funny since they seem like a lifetime ago.

What are the chances that they have learned any lessons from the last time around when it comes to what sand to pump and where to pump it from? I suspect very slim.

"What are the chances that they have learned any lessons from the last time around"...

    Yes,...slim to none.

What little they started in OCMD is gone after this one weak coastal system. All they are doing is Flushing Cash out to sea

Why doesn't one of you guys who know how to save so much money or do it better let them know how to do it right?

From what I heard, the pumping process was to start in DE around December. Not sure which part of DE 1st, but would make sense if they started in Fenwick & worked North since the contractors in OCMD will be the same ones for DE.

It's not about saving money. I can't think of a better place for my tax money to go. It's about admitting when you're wrong. This process obviously does not work. Every beach in snj is gone and they were just done in the spring time. When is enough enough?

So why don't you propose your alternative

my alternative is to stop dredging or at least use better sand. Sometimes no action is the best action. Artificial reefs or maybe just throw 100 dollar bills in the water and see if they form a bar. Didn't say i was an expert just stating the obvious. I suppose you're a fan of futility

sorry to be ignorant but what do they do, or try to do when pumping sand? And how does it effect the break? I thought I heard at one point that Dewy beach was a decent spot but that the city dug out the sand right before the beach creating the shore break it has now? Is that it? I can't imagine why they do that as it does not seem good for anyone?

Also will they be pumping Indian River Inlet? I love that spot and would not like it to be intentionally messed up?

Again sorry for asking what be well known on this forum.

    hey mayor

The alternative is to stop wasting taxpayer dollars on this bull****. Unless, of course, you have a vested interest in this stunning annual waste of money ....?

Yah I'm sure these are the amazing results of humping, er, pumping sand into the ocean to try to stop Nature's relentless & ultimately victorious march of erosion.

What political office is it, exactly, that you hold ....?

That's not photoshop. That's a real pic. I go there all the time. They're building a new bridge and I belive, though not positive, that they pump out the water and stuff for the pillars from time to time and that's what comes out. Just sand and water but it's still a nasty looking sight. Especially when it's pumping and coming right at you in the water. More of a mind f&$k more than anything.

Not sure if you are simply being a contrarianor if you really care but the irony of the replenishment efforts in DE (Rehoboth, anyway) is that they are making life miserable for the tourists. I assume the goal of replenishments is to make the beach bigger so there is more room. However just as pumping sand has ruined most of our local breaks it has also created a rock-filled trench right at the shoreline. This article is a year old but it explains the problems that this has caused for the lifegaurds:
