I think that it is hilarious when ppl on this site b I t c h about a swell that was forecasted never showing up. I was wondering how come no one complains when it is forecasted to be flAt and we end up getting swell. For instance, this week for Ocmd is basically flat all week but I tend to doubt that that will stay that way ( knock on wood). Anyway just a thought especially to all you mooks who start s h I t when a swell predicted 7 days out doesn't happen....

    for real

i only really like when we get waves according to the predicted forecast. that way it fits into my busy social life and i dont have to make any changes to my rigid routine. just easier that way. great post mooseknuckle i hate un-predicted waves. its so 20th century.

there is a website called magicseaweed.com that for example they say we will get 6 footers but we end up by getting 2 footers...this site i think is only good for where the swells are coming from and wind and water temp etc...

i love it when Micah drops the forecast :p and the cams are cut off so the local crews score it.:D

Just sit inside and play your xbox when it is firing,... we got this.

i just hate when there are waves. IT makes it so much harder for me to claim ripper status. I really like when i can sit inside on my computer and touch myself all day.

My quiver needs some time to dry out because they are all so yellow. This also gives me time to stretch my wetsuit out so my fat a55 will fit into it next time its knee high. I like to be available when your girlfriends call and your busy surfing, totally (Fallopian) tubular, bra!!

This also gives me time to have really sexy tickle-fests with all of my bro'sssss

(only real kooks start threads about fumbled forecasts, the rest of us watch it unfold and know its coming. Branch out a little and use this as "A" source, not "THE" source)

i think magicseaweed is an Australian based forecast. i know they do forecasting all over but that s hit is like surfline's forecasts coming from the west side. i know its all looking at data and then making a forecast but i feel the swellinfo guy has been waaaaaay better than any of those guys and he is more local. idk maybe it matters. i see what u mean though totally

Whoa bro?!?!?! I don't know or care where u live but my #1 souce is when my alarm goes off in the morning all I do is roll to my left side and check one of the better spots in Ocmd. And I could show you a few things if you want a lesson on where to find surf forecasting tools online. Pm me for a tutorial.

Senor Lee, mi amigo, here we go again. In between your bong hits, of course...

Websites make money from clicks & eyeballs. That's what the website owner reps to various advertisers. Money comes in from advertising so that you, senor, can hang with a 'free' website.

Gotta make money. This ain't no charity, Beavis. It's reality, dudes. Any forecasting site is no different. So, read me ! This isn't a shot at Micah. He does agreat job here. He keeps it real & he keeps it free, which is why most of you tune in ("it's free!")

However.....all websites sell advertising. It goes like this: Hey, Nike, or O'Neill or Bergdorff Goodman or Billabong.....I got 400 unique visitors per day on my site ! And my surveys show that these are primarily American males between the ages of 24 - 50 & they have average annual per capita incomes of $ xxxxxx.xx.

Put your ads on my site, for a fee, and reach these guys !

That's exactly why websites measure clicks on their pages, and eyeballs on their pages.

OK< now I know that Lee is gonna launch an ICBM at me from Oceana, and Zach will send his nuke sub up the Potomac, and Mooseknuckle will lock & load, and Beachbreak will just vent his spleen cause that's what he does....

But dudes....it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if sites post up 'green man' forecasts a week out that they will stimulate a feeding froth from the people who frequent the site. And as a result, the site numbers of eyeballs & unique visits shoot up....and as a result the site owner can claim more viewers & sell more ads, i.e., generate more revenue into his coffers ..... and keep the site 'free' for youse & me.

So the next time you go ballistic on a site for projecting 'green & wonderful' conditions a week out....only to see it 'fall apart' by the time the weekend arrives ?

    Understand one thing.

    It's a bidness, baby... !

    :D
