just curious , can you surf with zero wax in the summer , while wearing reef booties just for grip?

Why would you want to? You're so restricted during winter, it's nice to trunk it!! Good luck on your testing this summer

I don't want to... I'm just curious if those 1mill reef boots are grippy enough to take on a bare board.

Lay down a lumpy hotcoat...you know, wait for it to gell, then keep brushing... then scratch it up with 60 grit and go for it.

shoot man i think wax keeps me on the board while paddling just as much as while riding. Better wear your reef vest too if your going to 86 the wax.

i dont wax my board, i wax my feet and my chest. nothing like rubbing a bar of wax all over your nips on a hot summer day...

Wax is good , but its not great... I'm just curious about the alternatives.

But for now I got a heavy coat of sticky bumps that turns brown faster than a banana, ,,, when its in the Atlantic.

Someone makes skateboard like griptape for surfboards. I'm not sure who off the top of my head. I don't know if it's any good either, but you should be able to find it with a quick search.

There are Organic alternative waxes that are just as good as the top makers if thats what your worried about. I also remeber seeing at the NJ Surf Museume in Tuckerton , NJ a spray on traction in a spray can but I dont think u can get at anymore

    PEACE OUT, NIPPLES!

I love wax. I love its smell, I love its taste, i love using it. I think its soothing to wax up while you plan the paddle out. Waxing a fresh board for the first time? Its like a breaking bottle to christen a new sailboat.

to quote a Surfer article that discussed this matter, I "prefer the meat/skin on my ribs to permanent good footing"

edit: I know I butchered the actual quote but it was something like that

I think surf traction needs to evolve.
