Oh yeah?? If your a father you do assuming your kid was not in the wrong. Like somebody posted earlier, if your kid didn't do anything and got roughed up (or even yelled at) then it's go time.

you can protect your kid without taking it where sunny did. he was clearly out of control

Maybe, but as a parent, I can tell you if somebody messed with my kid (not saying that Sunny's didn't provoke this) I don't think I could control myself either.

I guess basically nobody here really knows what happened before the vid was shot but I suspect that Wally was pretty close. So IF the kid was innocent then I think Sunny was pretty justified, however, if the kid started it then Sunny is a douche.

sunny could end up in jail or sued or banned for life from professional surfing and it won't matter who dropped in on who. like i said, you either learn self control on your own or the world teaches it too you the hard way.

crack a kids face and you get caught. i have a friend who popped someone totally deserving it and the kid's cheek shatters and it he turns out he's only 15 with rich parents and they sued my buddy and his family for big bucks. ended up settlng for high 5 figures.

if i was attacked by sunny i'd definitely be looking for a pay day. just watch, this is going to turn out very badly for him.

I used to live on Preston and Greenmont. 300 block east baltimore. That is why people like sunny garcia are a joke to me. None of those North Shore clowns would make it 3 blocks down to Preston Street if you dropped them on North Avenue... Thats my point. He would got gun butted, robbed and sho* in the face for talking back. He wouldnt make it one block with his "tough as$". Baltimore is reality. I learned to never mess with people I dont know, and go picking fights because everyone around me was carrying guns and had zero issues with pulling out and shooting them...

This is not the outsiders... Its not the 50s. I have a mutual friend that got shot twice in his chest in front of the lifeguard stand in OB of all places. 7:00 at night while we were eating pizza at newport pizza and ale house. He talked a bunch of sh** to these southbay gangster earlier by the pier... The guys left OB for 2 hours, came back and shot the kid twice. He is ok... But that is in OB, SD. The most non violent place around...

Dont fu** with people. I can fight. I trained to fight for years. But I cannot outrun a bullet. So I do a lot more listening than I do talking these days. Im not an invincible 21 year old anymore.

And let me add, I do NOT think that a surfing related fight like the garcia one would ever come to something with weapons. I am just saying, generally speaking, fighting strangers is a very dangerous thing to do in 2011. It is not the wild west. You never know who you are dealing with. There are legal ramifications. There are very real physical dangers in doing sh(( like that, especially underwater.

And if you are doing this around your son, teaching him that it is ok, he could get himself in some serious trouble as he gets older. Carrying on the chip on the shoulder legacy. You should teach you kids based on your mistakes, not pass them on.

this article shows alot that we alrady know. This isnt Sunny first violent outburst. If you look at the Garcia / Nico Video on Youtube you will see Nico had beat garcia to the wave and he was a poor sport about it and took him out and soon as they both surfaced he tried to act like the victim. They dont really say who droped in on who Sunny 16 year old sone or the other guy but, You can probally bet that it was Sunny's Kids. Lets face it if we were 16 and Sunny's Kids you would try to do the same thing. Then he attacks a camera man as he walked away. Okay so that 2 time Sunny attack someone smaller than him in one day. If I was the head of the ASP Sunny would be on the Banned but Fo Life!

Again, you rise above emotions of the moment and apply rational thinking  I'm sure Garcia/Flores wished they could have a "Do Over" was it worth it? I think Not

Maybe their's a lesson here :D for all no matter how "heated" any situation arises in the lineup physical recourse to resolve those emotions could have Legal repercussions. We all seen it mostly verbal altercations while some are resolved physically. Some feel the need to cross the line from battery,1st, 2nd or 3rd degree assault which could result in prosecution and civil compensatory damages. Allow me paint this "Real Life" picture whether its you or a minor, as already posted, parents are legally liable for minors as you can be held financially respond able for damages including punitive. Most home owners policies won't cover these claims if holder negligence/compulsory in the "action". If Judgement entered for plaintiff depending on State's statues, lien placed on home, bank accounts and wages. These are worse cases (legal) scenarios but it does happen with some regularity. The judge asks how all this happened and you reply "I was cut off on a wave surfing"

In Garcia case, IRS has first priority on his income so any civil action would waste of time as you would have to stand in line.

    http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/garcia-flores-disqualified-from-aussie-wqs-event_52817/

"it all started when Adam Clarke slapped Stone Garcia in the face. Good family friend of the Garcias, Flores intervened and told Adam he could have problems if he continued to beat Stone. From there, he paddled toward me, started to punch me and I defended myself. Someone told Sunny that Stone'd been slapped and he came. Sunny was defending his son, says Flores."

I would of done the exact same thing. There's no reason for all of you guys to start this huge Sunny bashing thread.

Sunny is only famous in the surfing community. Wesly Snipes is a world famous actor.

You take Sunny's trial to Wisconsin or Nebraska where nobody as ever heard of him and I bet you it will be a guilty verdict.

but the questions are how old is Clark and why did he "slap" Stone ??? Did he get out of line with Clark who might older than him or are the the same age withing a year or 2 of each other. I was alway told to repsect my elders and if I got out outline with a adult then it was my own fault I had to be humbled. If I got outline with someone my own age and ran my mouth well shame on me for not talkin the talk and walking the walk.

I like how the camera man dropped all the charges out of fear

"According to a report in a local paper today, the unnamed, Gold Coast based 37-year-old has dropped his complaint against Garcia. The man was to meet with police today, possibly to continue with assault charges against Garcia, but is leaving the country, after receiving numerous threats from locals and Garcia's overseas supporters warning of revenge.

"I'm too scared to press charges," the photographer said yesterday. "Garcia could go to jail and then people would want to get me. At the moment I just don't feel safe. I've had threats on the internet -- I don't know how to protect myself and family. We're leaving the country until this is over. I'm out."

To me, It appears Garcia was acting out some revenge after he had the surfer subdued as you can hear a woman yell "Oh my God someone stop him". When you see the cameraman abrasions obliviously clear evidence of an assault that doesn't help the claim Garcia was defending his son. I guess you can label it "Pro Surfers acting badly"

There is nothing wrong with protecting your kid, but the way he did it was wrong!..You don't hit people in the water and hold their head underwater...you just don't do that sh!t...especially when your 3 times the size of the guy...and furthermore, he should be charged with assault for knocking the cameraman over...some people just never mature, their answer to everything is to fight...the only thing you can do is hope karma comes back and rears it's angry head at d'bags like this...and b4 you say it, your right I wouldn't call sonny garcia a d'bag to his face...lol

when it comes to my son id **** everybody up. i know its not right but i would. im just being honest. id lose it i think. you dont **** with my son.Its obvious Sunny needs anger management. i think he just lost it and the guy seems to do it too often. as somebody said earlier, this is going to end badly for sunny. I think everyone is just tired of this guys temper tantrums and even though this might be understandable ( I SAID MIGHT BE BE EVERYONE although very wrong) nobody cares to sympethize or understand. They are just tired of it as it seems to continue.
