Surfing last Friday I was disturbed by how quick my hands got cold compared with the rest of my body. Low and behold after the session I noticed some tiny holes in between the fingers on each glove. Would like to repair them but I'm not sure if I should use the clear cement or the black glue? I'm leaning towards the glue....Any thoughts?
surf shops around here carry oneill brand black glue, but i belive aquaseal also has a version. check a dive shop. i think the one they sell at home depot may harden after it dries.
get the oneill westsuit neoprene cement it is more flexable than aqualseal. works great on wetsuits, gloves and boots. Just make sure the area is TOTALLY dry
Like others said the oneil neoprene cement does wonders just don't leave it open... all mine dried up. ps. grab some lobsta claws
Try a flexible, clear glue called Amazing Goop. It's at Ace or Depot. Use more rather than less on the hole. Works great, dries fast.
ive had really good results w aquaseal. patched small holes and big fin gashes. all repairs were water tight and still pretty flxible at seams/creases. never tried the oneill stuff tho
YES! Amazing goop is amazing. Cheap too. There are a few different varieties of the goop, the best kind for wetsuit repair is in a blue tube that says "PLUMBING" on it. Just cram the goop into the hole and you'll be fine.
So I went to the local big box store but no amazing goop was in stock. The local surf shop had aquaseal but only in the large size that I didn't need. Ended up getting some stuff called the blobb (it's a clear cement) that can apparently be used on wetsuits, fins, and even sponges. Sold. Tested out the repair on Friday pm and it no leaks were noticed. Extend the life of my gloves for another season for $6, awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
oh yeah. same thang happened here. If their little holes(half inch or less) super glue will do it. After two sessions my hyperflex claw gloves got a hole between the fingers and i gorilla glued that mess together. Has kept me warm for at least 7-8 sessions since then and the original glue job has held. Did the same thing to a little hole in my wetsuit knee. Held up decent for 3 sessions but ill have to patch that up again. But ill still probly get new gloves next season.
