[
you broke 2 boards in one day? gnarly...If you have money to fix them I think your best bet is to take them to a shop and see what they can do. IMO repairs of that nature are best left to the pros. After you see how much it costs you'll probably be better off borrowing a board for this weekend and saving up that $$ for a new stick.
Snaps are the ultimate repair, and even if you do "get it right," they never ride the same... the flex is always different. But if that's not important to you, the most important thing is getting the rocker back. Dowels, etc. are not necessary. Carefully cut away the glass around the break. Clean up the shards of broken stringer so you get a puzzle piece match, stand your board upright, and glue the two halves back together with lam resin or Gorilla glue. That's when you want to eyeball the rocker and make sure it's perfect. Then, I like to route out some narrow channels along the stringer, and lay in some roving. Mold it to fill the channels on both sides of the stringer, top and bottom. The roving and resin should fill all voids where the stringer is broken, and be flat to the top of the foam. Re-glass with one overlapping layer on the bottom, lapping the rail onto the deck side. Flip. Cut one patch to fill the foam, and one to overlap, also lapping the rails. Fair the edges smooth, hotcoat, sand.
yea im gunna get a new one just not now rent and stuff but i know i can put these back together what im looking for is what kind of resin should i get to reglass the board from the fins to the nose almost
thank you this was helpfull but my board is complety delam on the bottom what kind of rs do i use to fix this
check out the swaylocks forums, youll find step by step guides on exactly how to fix any kind of board breaks and what kind of stuff to use
Assuming your board is standard construction, and you have polyurethane foam (no little beads, like cooler foam), you need polyester laminating resin and 4oz. cloth. You'll also need some surface agent for your hotcoat and catalyst (unless you buy UV resin). So get cloth, resin, catalyst (mekp) and surface agent. You can download a chart for cat off of the fiberglasssupply.com website.
