Let me get caught up on all of your lingo so we dont have this problem in the future. You call em "hommies" and "your niggazzz", I call em "mates"

Oh yeah, LOL sorry to call out your stereotype, keep hip hoppin, dawg. Im sure its so true to your lifestyle, straight slinging rocks and killing ma f*ckers who disrespect you? get real.

Im glad you took so much from this thread. You have identified yourself as a troll. GOOD JOB!

    Who's tha kook?

So one time (when I was very inexperienced) I was surfing next to a jetty all to myself for pretty much the entire session. an older guy (who definitely wasn't a kook older guy, but a local) paddles out near me and I pay him no mind. He was on a longboard, so of course I was sittin on the inside of him. I ended up cutting him off and catching a wave that he pulled out of. I didn't even see him coming. I immediately got out cuz I felt like such a d!ck. but I've been thinking it over: was I in the wrong? I mean I had the break all to myself and he came out right next to me. JW for future "etiquette" faux paus. :(

Littering at the beach is pretty kookish no matter what music you listen to or how you dress. But are you really going to vibe on someone cause they have different taste?

just a commonly found stereotype in VB. A bunch of rich "thug" life kids who give us all a bad wrap. Please dont turn this into a music discussion thread, not my intention.

    Please allow me to re-word-
Please try not to disrupt the peace and litter when parking and changing because the old rich people whose houses we have to park in front of want you gone... and know the right people to get some no parking signs installed...

And you do realize that the sagging thing started out in prison right? IT meant that you were "available"...

No you can not say mate, ever. If you actually said that in real life and not on an internet forum, i would laugh in your face.

So it's all about you, right? Inconveniencing someone else doesn't matter as long as you get what you want?

If there are other options, you should take them. If it's the only spot that is breaking, then everyone should share. If you walk up to a beach break with a group of friends and there are other peaks or other jetties open and you paddle out on the solo dude, you're a d!ck plain and simple.

95 percent of the time the calm talking to does the trick. In the summer I daily hear lots of shouting from the better surfers and see the occasional shoving match and a few punches thrown but that's usually the exception.

Dave, I hope you were being sarcastic. If not you are a total douche.

Fair enough... It's a good point about not disrupting the peace in certain neighborhoods.

Not to go off topic... I thought the baggy pants thing started in prisons cause they weren't allowed belts.

I've got a good one. There is this guy who shows up every summer to surf at the local break. I think his parents own a beach house. I surf a local jetty with a right break. This kook likes to stand in the shallows inside the jetty, pretty much in the impact zone. 3 summers ago, I'm in front of the jetty, lined up start to paddle, and this joker from a standing jump leaps into the same wave. I jump, board goes into the jetty, and he pops up yelling, "I thought you were going left." I told him he was an @$$ hole and needed to get out of my face. Thankfully several of my friends grabbed my board and told the idoit to back off. Unfortunately he still shows up from time to time, but he doesn't jump in front of anyone any more.

shut up. you guys will never see each other in the water, and even if you did you wouldn't know it because no one knows who anyone looks like. This thread is useless now. move along.

    EMILIO!

How about two people paddling for the peak, one goofy going left one regular going right, all would be well and good and both could take the A frame except they are flip flopped, both call eachother off by saying going left, going right respectively. Who gets the wave?

    That's what I said:

My 40 years experience usually good advise or stern warning will resolve inappropriate Kook behavior and sometimes group effort drives the point home either verbal, blocking or get the F**** off our break. A Kook might have genitalia deforming to prove his ba!!s bigger with an ego to match his sack as sometimes you just can't make chicken sh*t out of chicken soup. So what's the next level? Either its fists or you done all you can do so to be set up up to escalate the situation will only feed the KooKs ball sack.. The Sonny Garcia episode as well as forum comments reaffirms violence has no place in the line up. Paddling away from a bad situation is not a sign of being a "push over" , you have done your best to correct it in a respectable manner rather than resorting to violence. This is a fabulous thread (thanks Lee) and reading some comments asking about what if and what's not proper etiquette is being absorb by those newer riders. So if sending a different message/view point its OK to paddle away is good advise for some. Another point, you, Matt, Zack, NJ42, LBCrew and others are so helpful and Iconic to those other viewers. I admire how you (Et AL) setting fine examples assuming leadership qualities on a variety of topics/issues for others to gain by setting examples and giving something back too.I know most think I'm an old Kook, I don't have too many years left but feel the Karma making this forum and the line up a better place as paddling away is tougher call than kicking the kook.

Not bashing you Pump, not my style, just paddling in another direction, just say'n

No worries. Everybody has an opinion. I've actually witnessed situations where an assertive kook took over a break because the guys out didn't want to confront him. In my 29 years of surfing I've only ever been in 3 real fights surfing so the other stuff talked about here does work.

"Hey guys it looks pretty good here -- and only one guy out. Its already getting crowded at XX street a mile or so up the road - and its not any better - but lets head there, this guy looks like he's having a lot of fun, and the last thing we want is to mess up his scene"

Hey guys, look there are three jetties breaking. Those two are empty, but there's one guy out on that third one so it MUST be better than the other two. Let's paddle out there with him.
