I was wondering if anybody on here had any experience with making a fiberglass bodyboard. Thought it would be cool to start a project and wanted some advice.
Check this video out, Matt Calvani and Chris Del Morro got i covered. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xmig5CxY_4
great find man! I was looking for something for more prone riding than standup. If you didnt glass fins in and decided to just shape in some deep channels like a regular bodyboard, do you think you would still be able to maintain enough control?
WTF I swear I was going to shape that exact board last year. Looks like it goes as good as it did in my imagination. I'm making one this summer, I'll post pics when it's done!
I just shaped one out of an old half a blank I had lying around, but I havent had time to glass it yet. It looks pretty solid I just eyeballed the concaves on a real bodyboard I had lying around. Should be fun for summer if I ever get around to glassing it.
no, i do not. When bodyboarding, you want flex... fiberglass doesn't offer you flex. I've seen someone ride a bodyboard like this, and it didn't look fun to me.
good point. still might work for riding down the line fast on a mellow day at AI, but if thats all i'm using it for, I might as well just get a longboard
