I like this magazine and i like reading stories about the east coast, but once again...

Another mag story on Jersey where the author cant find much more to write about than

people there have Italian sounding names.
Seaside heights has waves breaking off the amusement park.
    Dean Randazzo.
    Winter waves empty and snowy.

    Com on...Dig a bit deeper

yeah man. like that movie Dark Fall. Well made but extremely disappointing. Nothing new and groundbreaking. That same article has been written many times before. It's been done.

the author is said to be a kook.i don't know him,but his articles don't represent nj surfing for me,but it's hypocritical of me to criticize since his crap gets published and mine does not,so, i give him credit there.

the history part of it was ok, but seemed to leave a lot out...not much about what's happening NOW.

get w/ what? he glossed over significant aspects of nj surf history & didn't really write anything groundbreaking. as sort of mentioned earlier, the article is basically "dark fall" in literary format.

someone i know who's opinion i value says he's a kook.i read his articles all the time, they seem kook-ish to me,but that's just my opinion, and i'm sorry.plus,i did give him credit for writing what mags want better than my writing.
he does not represent me as a new jersey surfer barely at all,but i guess he's trying, and obviously succeeding on a bigger level than most, myself included.
you guys?don't try to paint me into a corner, and no one else would want to be lumped in with my sorry self.
that being said, read my profile,i got nothing to hide, come on out and find out who i am,but, you might not like it.
i'm the local who you might not want to invade my sandbar, depending.

for example, some nj surfers strongly disliked dark fall, and i did not go see it because i don't care.some new jersey surfers don't care.we just want to go surfing and be left alone come invader kook season, meaning now.not a problem when it's early in the morning, pumping swell , off-season or cold and uninhabited.that's nj surfing for us.we don't care to glorify it,and we want to be left alone.no pride, just surf, humbling, pretty decent, surf.unknown surfers riding waves no one ever sees, alone in nj,12 months a year for years and years.put that in your surfers journal.

    pressure release valve

Because of the large death toll and destruction of property along the Gulf Coast, the name Katrina was officially retired on April 6, 2006 by the World Meteorological Organization at the request of the U.S. government. It was replaced by Katia on List III of the Atlantic hurricane naming lists, which will next be used in the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree with you about keeping it unrecognized. International exposure for our scene means giving them the general idea. Just as Dark Fall did. There are plenty of us that surf every swell, every day, and of course we have our own emotions and stories and such that derives from our experience. But to portray Jersey surfing as a whole...
You want to read about individuals crews and such pick up ESM. The author has been writing for them forever.

ESM def. Unless a writer is from here and hitting it here, it's pretty hard to get it right.

When Hurricane Bill came thru, and Andy Irons and other "pros" were it the water, it was hard to pick them out among the other "unknowns" ripping it up.

the photo of grog at the 'infamous casino pier' is not the casino pier, something mags and jon coen are infamous for.
tony g. was in the top 25 in the world before davoli or randazzo.ellie keck was in the top twenty more than once on the women's tour.i could go on forever here.this article is not only mis-respresenting a lot of us,it's packed with lies, for example, the springsteen surfing connection is beyond a major stretch.billy joel shreds long beach on a CI dumpster diver 'from time to time,' too,ha-ha, and i surfed with bon jovi in long branch yesterday.i mean how does he get away with this?

BeachBreak, is Ellie Keck still surfing up there? I grew up surfing with her, Wayne, Doug and Dave Hopper way back in the early eighties. She had the smoothest style ever and I'm sure she still does. I can still see her hands bent up at the wrists as she makes a smooth cutback surfing first jetty at Sandy Hook at the crack of dawn. That was when first jetty existed, lol.

yeah,i see her around and she still surfs the same.that jetty was a long perfect right off the rocks all the way into the racetrack inside beach, and we could get it all to ourselves.like surfing in a swimming pool,so clean and mellow
