I can't speak for NJ. but I am sure it is similar. You need to learn all the different spots for different tides and situations. Surfing close outs is not my thing, and I would rather go to spot that may not be per say "the biggest" to get more waves. (Verses going out for two hours and catching 3 waves) and hoping you don't break your $700 favorite board.
