If you want to smoke - fine - but you have to draw a line at doing things like getting in a car and driving when you're baked. Stay home, eat Twinkies, watch movies - just don't endanger other people.

And as far as Josh being 14 and experimenting with drugs - I work with kids and sadly, a lot of them are experimenting with drugs at his age. And not just pot, either. I can't even tell you how many of them use heroin, cocaine or steal their parents prescriptions. A lot of it has to do with our puritanical society making it all that more inviting to them. The thing I don't understand is if he's truly comfortable with his drug use, as he claims to be, then why talk about it on a public forum where he's bound to meet resistance?

It sounds like an attempt to gain approval for something taboo.

Overhyped and too mainstream now. You shoulda seen it back in 2003..... as the thunderstorms moved out The Dead played an encore of Shine on You Crazy Diamond all while the sun was setting w/ swirling pastels. Magical! Then Les Claypool rocked on one stage while Danger Mouse spun on the adjacent one, battling back and forth from midnight til' 5am.

    ratdog

I went to see ratdog play at the tweeter center and a lightning storm rolled in. he played through the storm before the allman brothers came on. the songs he played matched up perfectly with the storm rolling in and leaving. they are awsome man

I would say I drive stoned at least 50% of the time. It is 100% of the time for drives longer than 30 minutes. There is no doubt that when I'm lifted, I drive better, play video games better, play billiards/darts better... basically when I blaze and do something it helps me focus all my energy on that one thing. The beauty of this plant is that I can sit on my ass and listen to music and let my mind wander as well. Multi-tasking is a bit more challenging though. :)

    Definately overhyped and too mainstream.

Publicity draws people that kills the community vibe with shallow moves and bad trips... Keep your car locked or you could get beat. I did go a few years back and caught a late night STS9 set and the crowd/party was insane.

sweet youtube video on the marijuana and driving. the british guy closes out by saying it's time to get rid of all the stereotypes about hippies and reefer madness and get down to a serious informed debate about drugs and driving.

the netherlands is one country that has it right, in my opinion. the tourism industry is excellent there and that country has nothing but flood plains (no nice mountains or beaches). why? because everyone flocks to their country to smoke pot in amsterdam and rotterdam. there are also those skeezy japanese dudes who fly in for a quick bone with a red light skank or a blue light trannie.

by the way, the country did a poll on how many actual dutch residents frequent the "coffee shops". the number: 6%. SIX PERCENT. this is a country that has experimented wildly with all drugs and they have classified each one accordingly. pot, for example, is a soft drug... while heroin, of course, is a hard drug.

the united states is far behind with many other countries in this category. just think about how much money and resources is wasted on capturing pot farmers and dealers. what they should be doing is cracking down on the crazies doing meth and blow.

Think about all the money our country could make and save and spend elsewhere beacuse of taxation on the drugs if they were legalized and sold nationwide. Booocoooz dollaroooz

I think the state should have the power to have drugs legal or not.
In Florida many people are getting killed over drugs. If some simple drugs like psilocybe cubensis, or marijuana were legal it can help Florida out. It will reduce much crime and violence. And the state will get a ton of money. That money could help build better schools, help homeless people.. ect.

same goes for Washington D.C. New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and California.

Most of the other states drug violence, and money are not really an issue.

Much like how the drinking age is always 21 in every state while it is not a Federal law. The Federal Government gives states funding for highways, roads, schools, ect. if they comply with keeping the drinking age at 21. Same idea with drugs, there is so much funding received from the Federal Government by individual states that they just simply comply with the Federal Government's stipulations for getting that particular money. Another GREAT example is "No Child Left Behind". Schools receive Federal funding if they meet certain criteria in terms of the grades students receive on standardized tests. This sounds like an excellent idea and SOUNDS as if it would boost the quality of the education system, however there is a horrible backlash occurring. Schools are cutting out programs such as wood shop, metal shop, civic classes, electives, ect ect to make room for specialized classes designed to aid students in passing the standardized tests in order for the school to receive Federal funding. As a future social studies teacher, in my opinion, this is complete bull****. Subjects such as history, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and economics are not found on standardized tests - only reading/writing and math! How ridiculous! And then civics classes are cut from school programs and the nation wonders why only HALF the population is registered to vote and only HALF of those registered voters actually DO VOTE!

Well it seems I went off on a tangent for sure, but basically what I'm saying is the Federal Government gets its hand into everything where it shouldn't belong.
