ray and surfrr, good points, and,i don't know exactly, either, but i know it's a big hit i'm taking, and totally sucks, and nobody just gets less after 16 years and likes it,and schools can not be compared to businesses, and right,i should feel effects for reasons you've stated, but this fat slob is just as much of a phony a-hole as the next politician, and if you had my perspective you'd be better able to see that.reminds of of the time i said jack johnson's music sucks, don't dare say anything bad about yoga or chris christie.or airs.sorry,i'm not gonna say i'm right, but i hate jack johnson's music, yoga, christie and airs. lee,you can re-write my post for me if you want.didn't know you wanted the king's english.maybe matt can help you.
i know diddley about politics and economics but why the f would anyone want to make cuts on education???? teachers should be treated like kings. im neither and im not all that political so my opinion isnt driven by money or anything. kids of today are our countries future and apparently we are not that high on the list of countries with good educations.not very promising is it? one of the biggest influences in my life was a teacher i ran into 10 years after high school. cant say where i was headed but i werent good and that lady helped me get right. respect them and support them especially if ya got kids.
Is this the same pandering governor, defender of the over-taxed, that feels entitled to ride the state government helicopter to attend his son's baseball games before heading off to political fund raising events? I am not familiar with the particulars of the New Jersey budget situation, but know enough of this form of logic: "many teachers are union members therefore teachers are bad" is a logical fallacy. And pity the town with the fire chief making $120K/yr. How did THAT happen... after all, it was a "small town." It is also easy to throw out this tidbit -- a good friend of mine, a private sector employee, was doing very well during the boom days, really gloating on his year end bonuses of $30k, $40k and so on, and wondering why I would ever want to be a federal employee with merit pay bonuses of $600, $1,200 and maybe $1,800. Well, that person didn't make wise investments, blew through most of his bonus money, and now complains about taxes and overpaid government workers. Back to the most socialistic enterprise in the USA: the military. Some debt reduction proposals, considered to be outlandish, would cut $100B/yr for 10 yrs, or $1 trillion total. Sheep. Why not $200B/yr for $2 trillion over 10 years? That still leaves $400B+ annually. Why continue to subsidize military personnel costs which have been soaring for the past 20 years? Why continue to subsidize housing, health care, recreation, day care, retirement, food and every day goods and services? Why does the DOD need a first class hotel on the best beaches of Waikiki? Why do military bases need their own golf courses? Why hasn't TRICARE insurance rates increased in 15 years? Why does the US need to keep buying gold plated weapon systems?
Just saw an opportunity to prod the fire a bit. I love watching this kind of sh*t unfold. Good on you for being a teacher, we need more of 'em who actually give a flying F about anything besides when the clock strikes 2:30 or whenever.
It's not a matter of who should get treated better. Teachers do a thankless job. So do police, paramedics & firerighters. My father was a Long Branch firefighter for 30 years (not a volunteer). I believe somebody mentioned $120K retirement salary. First off, that's the city's decision. Not Christie's. Secondly, things must have changed...a lot. After 20 years as a firefighter (in 1989), my father was making $26k per year. He never didn't have a second job. He had to, just to support the family in a 3 br/1bath bungalow. Now, his medicare is going to take a hit & he's 75 years old. His only comment was "They don't have the money...they have to." He's not living large by any means. He's just lacking the bitter sense of entitlement that seems contageous these days. I'm a military retiree.....20 years. I've been to Afghanistan once and Iraq three times. You know what, my medical care will no-doubt be affected by the upcoming budget. I can't see how it can't. Furthermore, I'm now a GS. My pay is indefinately frozen, just like the NJ teachers. Should I be pissed that the GOP is recommending huge cuts to federal programs & be an Obama fanboy? I guess if making money was my primary goal in life....sure. If that's case, I picked the wrong business. I can shelter & feed my family in a free country during a time that a lot of people are far less fortunate. I even get to surf (when there's waves). Being well off is relative. Think about it. My point? Bringing it back on topic, it's foolish to not think that continuing to add to the country's debt by failing to make cuts will have a happy ending. At over $4 billion dollars a day added to the national debt, we've got a reckoning coming. Take some serious cuts & tighten our collective belts now(GOP proposal) or add, substantially, to the national debt & take catastrophic cuts later (Obama proposal). Nobody's getting away with anything. I vote for get it done now and start getting better. I don't hate him, but Obama has to go.
excellent,Ray,thanks. Some of you guys were very helpful here, and I learned something. Now I'll suck it up and take my hit like everybody else.I'm sorry if I offended anyone. But I still think Christie is a phony just like the rest.John Stossel for President!Or Superintendent of Schools in my Distrcit
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub...12_presidential_election/obama_41_ron_paul_37 interesting poll shows the extent that Americans want for "actual" change! Ron Paul is not exactly main stream, doesn't have the charming looks, etc.... It's early..will he win the primary? Probably not, but the poll does give hope to the Tea Party movement in this country. Can't wait for the next round of congressional elections (hopefully the tide keeps turning)...not just the presidential election.
what does su(k...is how low Herman Cain polls against Obama. I think Herman Cain would be great as well!!!
You didn't offend me, brother. I agree...they're all corrupt. Honest people can't raise the amount of money it takes to campaign. If you accept that as a fact, the only question that remains is who's sponsoring. That's why I laugh when I hear uber liberals talk about how Bush had corporate strings. Hell yeah, he did. So did Gore, Kerry & Obama...as well as union backing. They're all dirty. What we fail to focus on, however, is what's going on with the lawmakers...Congress. While all the eyes are on the Presidency, Congressmen are wheeling and dealing. I'll vote for your special interest bill if you vote for mine. That's why the Tea Party freshmen are raising such hell. Regardless if we believe in their agenda, we have to recognize that (so far) they're keeping the pledges (without compromise) that they made while campaigning. And yes...they had corporate backing, too. Apparently, the middle class in their districts had the same concerns as the big businesses that funded them.
Hey mang, stop smokin' that tea.....ruin ya lungs, mang.... Tea party same broke down bs as the rest of the professional pols...they just spin it from a different angle....
thanks and mad respect to you and your dad,i couldnt be more thankful for all youve done. i was just talking about education, not who i support.{not obama}ps. cops and military are right on top with teachers. thanks again.
LMAO...I have no idea where you arrived at the assumption that I'm "smokin' that tea." I'm pretty sure I pointed out (several times) that they are all corrupt by virtue of sponsorship. I stand by what I said: Pay now or pay later. To make it clear, I'm a libertarian. I believe that the government should only provide national security from outside influences and coordination of the states rights (not dictate them). Obama is the furthest from that. Do you have a specific point of view or are you just throwing darts at mine? If I was drinking my coffee, it would've come through my nose when I read this!
Tanks for the props, brudda. My father has no regrets and for me, it was an honor. I've never mentioned my experiences on here before and only mention it now to qualify my remarks. I'm not claiming to thoroughly understand politics or federal finances. I was just providing my personal opinion based on the fact that country's budget problems affects a greater deal of undeserving people than some may perceive.
i still can't believe between obama, and romney they have around 45 % of the vote. romney sucks. he's a RINO. i still don't even believe he's leading the polls of all the republican prospects i think it's fixed. his massachusetts health care overhaul is the same as obama's, but only on a state level. romney is exactly what we don't need to replace obama. romney is such a joke that if he does get the nomination obama will be back another 4 years. i still can't believe 24 people on here voted obama. the reason i can't is because there have really only been 2 or 3 maybe 4 people to defend obama or state they would vote for him, and at least 2 people said they only would, because of process of elimination, and all choices suck. i think sarah palin is a dingbat, but obama has said a lot of stupid crap too. like i said i can't stand the gop, but obama is the single most destructive force to the fiscal well being of this country in a while. same with pelosi, and reid, and bernanke. when the 24 people who went with obama are losing at least $20 bucks more a week if not more from their paychecks which is a lot with this inflation i hope people change their minds. why should i have to pay anymore? i don't really care about me, because i can afford to pay a few more taxes a year. i make just over a 100k a year before taxes. that's my profit at least. i take in more, but i get to write off a lot of things being i own a businesses. i can't believe 24 people voted obama. i would like to hear the other 20 peoples opinions though i really would. the 20 unaccounted for who will vote obama. i'm not gonna attack you, or laugh at you, but please i act respectfully to state why you would vote obama again, and please don't say because everyone else sucks! everyone else does suck, but i can't say anyone is as bad as obama. palin is a little goofy, and i don't like bachmann much, but like i said i don't like the gop either. i will make an exception though to get this obama out of office. to vote for a gop candidate.
So here is the classic rip-the-existing-format-without-offering-a-solution. Let's see: employment is stabilized (unemployment higher than anyone wants, but it IS stabilized), deal in the making on deficit reduction, helath care attempts going on....WTF are you looking for exactly? Magic results like you see on your idiot box every night? It doesn't work that way. Takes time. So lighten up, Francis. Come on, mang, stop taking the easy road! You hate the existing guy (Bamster) but all you say is vote Republican. WTF. Are you deef ? Are you ignorant? Are you voting for Palin because you fantasize about her flat white arse on your sticky keyboard? Are you voting for Bachmann because you're a male nurse & you envision yourself rushing to her bedside when she's incapacitated by her migraines for days on end ? Are you voting for Romney because he jammed mandatory medical insurance down the throats of MA citizens & now many of same are going bankrupt? Dude, if you wanna do the Picasso thing ? Painting with the broad brush? Just keep that ignoramus stuff to your own household. One man's request.
ASSatateague today ASSateague was decent this morning. But....the flies were putting in a legendary performance. I killed.....hundreds....and still they attacked.....holy f u c k ....people were fleeing....low tide was 0730, and not too bad ....flies left us alone in the water then.... but as the day heated up to 102 degrees, the flies were relentless. Is it possible to have PTSD from ASSateague insects?
first of all yankee i've been following your posts in this thread, and when you haven't been defending obama, and kissing his ass i've enjoyed, and agreed with many of the things you had to say. ignoramus though? i guess 85% of people at least 85 % percent of people who posted in this thread are an ignoramus, because they have said the same things as me. i don't say vote republican. i wouldn't vote for any of those people, and i stated that in my last post. i said i wouldn't vote for palin, i wouldn't vote for bachmann, and i wouldn't vote for romney either. now let's see time to pick apart. unemployment is not stabilized. it's went up 0.1 percent each month for the last three i believe, and i'm expecting the same for july when the report is released next month. 0.1 % isn't a lot you might think, but it was under 9 earlier in the year. it's been worse you are right, but it isn't stabilized. 0.1 % percent each month is not stabilized. i would call stabilized no rise at all or small rises here, and there. deal on deficit reduction? obama wants to tax the wealthy which is like not even 2 % of the population. it's not that i hate that idea, but i don't think that taxing them a couple more percent is gonna put a dent in this deficit. it just isn't. there just isn't enough rich people there isn't. you'd have to tax them 90 % percent which is absurd. there just aren't enough rich people. so then we'd have to tax everybody a few more percent which was discussed prior to this year when obama was up in the air about keeping the bush tax cuts. you can't tax the lower or middle class people any more. they're paying enough, and already living paycheck to paycheck, and most haven't had a raise in years. more taxes is like a significant paycut. i do hope they do raise them on everyone, because i wanna see people put their foot down. remember when bush sr raised taxes after promising he wouldn't? well he was easily voted out for clinton after his first term was over. taxes are gonna snuff out the middle class if they raise our taxes. health care? you talking about the health care bill ''we needed to pass so we could see what's in it''? oh and let me ask you this. you act like romney is horrible for jamming mandatory medical insurance down the throats of his citizens in ma, and i agree. did you forget obama is doing that with this health care bill? pretty sure insurance will be mandatory by 2014. my grandfather is like 84 years old. we had this conversation more than once. luckily he, and my grandmother don\'t need their COLA raise from social security to live good, but obama, and his administration have not given social security a raise since he's been in office. don\'t gimme that ''it's a set law he can't do it if the cost of living hasn't gone up'' the cost of living has gone up, and i don\'t remember 96 weeks of unemployment benefits before he was in office. bailouts of homeowners who fell behind or are underwater in their mortgages, the stimulus which failed, bailouts of companies, and yes you're right bush did start that, and a lot of republicans wanna forget that. all kinds of entitlements going out that weren't before he came in. he doesn't give a **** about the seniors though. are your parents or grandparents seniors living on social security? obama promised to close gitmo, he promised to end the wars which he isn't doing fast enough. a lot of his policies are extensions of bush's. i voted for obama in 08, and i aint gonna deny it. i'm sure a few others who have said the same things i'm saying here voted for him too in 08, but won't be voting for him 12. i can't stand romney, bachmann, or palin, or the republican party. i've been voting in presidential elections since 92, and have never voted for the gop candidate. i didn\'t like obama in 08 i don't trust any of these guys, and you said so yourself i believe earlier in the thread something along the lines of that. i felt obama was a better choice than mccain then, i felt kerry was a better choice than bush, and i couldn't stand kerry either. people put their spin on it though. most of us who posted in here are ignoramus's because we don't like obama's policies. you said obama is still steering the ship or something to that effect. well we have a year, and a half of him at least, and we can't change that. there is no changing that we're stuck with obama in office until january 2013. so i'll keep my eye out, and see if he can get us closer to shore by then. honestly though i don't think he will.
