you guys are kind of freaking me out! I surfed in DE for 2+ hours again this morning, and the water was warm ... def over 70 and now i'm paranoid about tomorrow morning.
Mitchell, I'm pretty sure the angle of the beach in De compared with Maryland means these SSW winds are more offshore than side shore. The wind needs to be sideshore from the south to get the whole Ekman transport in motion and cause the freezing nearshore temps. I Learned that in Rutgers Oceanography class .
I surfed belmar yesterday and the water was freeeeeeezeing. probably around 60, Mabe colder. I was cold in a 3/2. Today in the aftnoon was a hellofa lot nicer. it was actually really warm say 75+
