you can make it work if you really want to. the hours spent in a classroom or hospital far away from the ocean will likely be paid back ten-fold after you graduate, tho that depends on the course you choose. personally, that wouldn't be my locale of choice at this stage in my life, but at 18 i made the choice to go to school inland for a change in geographic scenery & surroundings. it was a great decision if for no other reason than the fact that it reinforced my desire to live w/in walking distance of the ocean.
i know several doctors that went to school inland & surf. one is my gp.

You must be the one who always starts the arguments on this forum. This is not suppose to make people better or worse than others, more to find more things in common besides surfing with the members of this site. If you're unemployed and angry about it, you're not the only one out there. There is no need to get ancy about the topic.

I'm a full-time student studying envi sci with a focus on sustainability and a part-time bum. I was an art director for about 16 years but decided I was over it about 2 years ago. I still do freelance work though. Just finished the website for the AC Surf School—www.acsurfschool.com. I also help them out with lessons occasionally.

Hydrogeologist, very interested in anything dealing with water quality/useage issues. Surfers views on these issues are "different" than most, like to stay in touch. I ride a 9' foamy (when I'm not windsurfing), stay out of everyone's way.
