Chill dude......it looks to me that there is a lot of young guys that are just learning. nothing wrong with that. I guarantee.we all asked stupid questions early on. They are showing INTEREST. I'll also bet you that there are highly experienced people in here. I would rather answer some stupid questions, then watch the lack of stoke from most younger people today. It's all good.

I'm a kook too. By the way for the new guys a kook is a new/inexperienced surfer and a grom is short for grommet, which is a young surfer:) I have wanted to surf for years, but didn't have the money for a board. I finally got a used 9' epoxy this year. I surf 4,5, sometimes 6 times a week. Last Thursday and Saturday I went out in the morning (at dawn) to catch the 1st high tide and later the same day to catch the second high tide. I watch videos, read articles, practice my balance on an exercise ball and surf as much as possible. I try to research questions ahead of time to not ask really dumb, simple questions. I recommend other newbies do the same, but we are counting on the veteran surfers for direction. I wouldn't know important things like surf etiquette if it weren't for a good friend of mine who taught me how to surf. Everyone needs to chill. Surfing is fun.

no one cares if you suck or you rip. give respect to gain it no matter who you are and we'll all be just fine. riding waves is between you and the ocean, no one else... just remember you're not always the only one out there.

You must not know what shirt to wear in the morning with so many sponsors. Don't get too big for your britches. Relax and surf. If it weren't for us kooks watching you wouldn't have anyone to show off to. I'm going to paddle out today in most likely flat conditions and enjoy myself anyways. Kookabunga!

I don't think EVERYONE on here is a KOOK. Stupid concept anyway. It's all about having fun. People have to learn somewhere. If someone asks what you believe is a stupid question, answer it. It's probably not stupid to them. That's how this sport is taught, and how the next generation learns.

guys FYI, no one is sponsored by billabong, quicksilver, and rip curl at the same time. these are competitive companies - it doesn't work that way. sorry to ruin the fun :)
