hey swellinfoers, going to Nicaragua tomorrow for a surf trip, and couldn't be more stoked. was wondering if anyone has last min advice for a surf trip, or if anyone has been to Nicaragua and could tell me anything that would make my trip a lot smoother. like stuff that you would've like to know before you went. thanks! check out the forecast http://www.swellinfo.com/surf-forecast/popoyo-nicaragua.html
Try not to pay more than 15 - 20 bucks US when the corrupt highway cops pull you over to fleece the gringo.
Way to rub it in. A-hole. jk man, have an awesome trip. Never been to Nicaragua, but if it's anything like the rest of Central America I would advise you to bring lots of sunblock and bug spray! Also, be ready to get muddy. Just accept that everything you bring is going to get soaked multiple times, then the reality will be far less frustrating.
put up a couple pics from the trip when you get back. im curious to see what "overhead" on the swellinfo looks like there compared to nj
Just got back 10 days ago. Waves are amazing every day and all day this time of year. Bring tons of Bug Spray for your body. We got eaten alive while wearing OFF so if they make something stronger, bring it. If your going to the Popoyo area bring cards or something to keep you occupied at night because there's not much to do once the sun is down and surfing isn't an option. It gets dark around 6:30 or 7 if i remember correctly and it can get pretty boring if you have nothing to occupy your time. Also, if your going to Popoyo or any other area that is not very developed make sure to stop at the market on the way in to stock up on beer, snacks, ect... bc the "market" at the end of the road doesn't have much to offer. Have fun. I wish I was heading back, although we should start getting some hurricane juice soon to keep us from going crazy.
