Thanks everyone for all the *****in.....I haven't had any time to surf this summer.....between the crappy economy and all the factors that go along with it, I was feeling like I was missing out on another summer. The good part is that I found a new job with a busy company. With decent income and fall a few weeks away, I'm looking forward to at least two new boards and thinned out lineups with pumping groundswells that always return after the rental season ends and school begins. I'm getting excited now. I'll see you crazy bastards soon. You will know me by the chesser cat smile on my face and the gunshot cracks when I smash a few lips.

I think the record set this year is for people whining. I said it before theres been way more days this summer (at least in ocmd) that were rideable than last summer. Last year did have a few chest swells and this hasn't, but in between them it was completely useless to take your board in the water. I know no one likes knee to waist high (which has been most days this summer) but its better than toe to ankle like its was. So i guess its more what you want quantity or quality. I don't know which i prefer but at least i don't whine everyday about it.

sorry bout all that i don't like to say to much negative stuff but it needed to be said

not to piss you off, but that was a straight up Kook @ss statement. This has been without question the weakest summer in a very, very long time.

"I know no one likes knee to waist high (which has been most days this summer)" <<<<really, you sure about that? i mean seriously? you really believe that? if that is what you think then summer time is all yours, have at it.

The above link IS the most accurate assessment of what we have seen this summer.

I don't know, it's been pretty weak...but there was a couple weekends in July that were really fun, nothing really above waist or chest, but some fun days...This is the east coast, we're not known for good waves, especially in summer...so you really have to cherish the days that we do get swell. If anything I think it makes us more avid and more connected with it. Think of surfing like a girl you love, if you see her all the time, you might get sick of being around her, but if there are gaps between the time you see her, your feelings will be so strong when you do see her. It's a double-edged sword, it's easy to whine and complain....try this next time you feel like whining...close your eyes, picture yourself living in Nebraska and think about how many possible days you have a year to get in a good sesh...hope this helps.

    i already know I'm a smarta$$. Thank you.

must suck living in the East coast

all i ever hear East coast surfers say is how flat it is or somebody getting all aggro talking about being a real surfer, actually paddling out in overhead waves or what-have you.
i would just like to say (No keep in mind i grew up in New England) is **** the East Coast, it hasn't even been a particular good summer for southern California but i think the past seven days have had more swell energy then you guys have seen all week.
more power to you for patience but i would have killed myself if i did not have waves for even just a week, enjoy fall, ours will be better

Hatteras especially for sure has had waves this Summer. delmarva and even south jersey have been way better than here.we have a lowtide sandbar in 8 feet deep water that will not break.this has never happened here before in all my 35 summers surfed here

OBX has had a bit but not like the typical summer

I frequent the OBX often in the summer and I have only caught a few swells and none of them have tuned out as good as forecasted this year. Honestly I have had some fun chest high days spring til now in VB and down south but not many, not as many as we typically have. THe good thing is for the past 6 years whenever the ECSC hits VB they get fun surf for at least one day of the comp, hopefully that holds true and I can get back from Seattle by this weekend.

...and I too expect a decent swell between now and labor day, mainly based on previous years data. it's not rocket science..

    Props for the prescient call.
Could be a future in forecasting for you if you toss the engineering gig.
