Well you are partially right.....First off.....I was around for Gloria and it was in 85 not 88. And the waves were way over 9-10 Ft. I have a pic i'm looking for to post of a wave coming through at Jenks that is at least 15-20 Ft. You haven't seen anything big? Yeah most of NJ can only hold 8-10 Ft But there def is some spots that can hold 12 FT. I would know I was on them. Like last year in Asbury. But, I do agree that i haven't seen anything as big as Gloria here in NJ.

Yes, you are correct! But, Gloria produced a HUGE swell.... I was 12 when Gloria hit. If your a local...... Do you know the towers on the jetty's at Manasquan? Do you know how high those towers are? Well there clearly like 30 Ft high. And the picture that I have ...taken from Jenk's just across the inlet. Was clearly almost even with the top of the tower. Didn't say it was a rideable wave just saying it was frickin HUGE.

I promise when i get home I will post this picture and everyone will see a monster. It's truly scary.

Just out of curiosity, the waves were not 16' or 18' but exactly 17'???? Thats insane how precise your measurement system is...I will assume you took a tape ruler and measured each set as they came in.

I was 11 in 85' my parents and I went to the peir and it was big. Again I was 11 and preception and reallity sometimes are different. For anyone to tell me they rode a Triple-OH wave anywhere in the mid-atlantic, I'm going to blow you off unless I know of you. My piont is this discussion like agruing about whose **** is bigger and if you have a 10" cock your in the wrong bussiness.

Largest I've been out in was 8 foot faces, with maybe 9 foot faces on the sets in the Outer Banks. I don't remember the storm, but it was down in FL, sometime between 3-5 years ago. I think it was on or around labor day weekend. Pure groundswell with off shore winds, Only spot on the Island with those conditions. The water was clear and blue. It was a great day. It was one of two days of perfect waves that I'll never forget.

    somegaveup,

You are a dip5hit little turd......Who said anything about riding a TOH in the mid-atlantic?
I simply said I have a picture of a 15-20FT maybe even bigger wave coming through the inlet at Manasquan/Jenks during Gloria. Never said it was rideable....actually I thought i said it wasn't rideable.

    Fail

Umm... I'm not sure who took it, but in Pharoah's Corner Store in Manasquan, NJ there is a picture on the wall of a 15ft bomb with someone on the face of it.

Another, there is one in Surf Taco in Manasquan, NJ of a 25+ft bomb destroying the end of the jetty and actually breaking in the inlet channel.

Both of these are atleast 10 years old. I'm not sure exactly when they were or what storm they are from though.

First off old manasquan inlet before they pumped it in 95' could hold 10-15' surf easily with the outta bar at the end of the T-rocks and Jenks can hold 10-15' surf most of the time pretty much eveyrother spot in jersey when it gets over 10' its gonna get way to walled to ride and way too much current except for a select few spots that people know about.

Second Iam calling bull**** on OC marylant getting 15' and rideable with how the place is set up with all the jettys it would get to walled up for that side and doubt any spot can hold it with the exception of maybe IRI and lets be real if it was 15 feet there would be a ****load of photogs out shooting everyone ripping it up where is your proof

If you go to the homepage here and look under the surfline news on the right there is a link it talks about how the east coast got big in May there are also pictures if you'd like to look at those too. And you are right, the 15' waves in OC does sound fake but it was also the bigges OC has ever seen so i mean its not something that happens every year, all the reports said about 13-15, and I was out there so I mean i don't know what to tell you. Im not saying you have to believe me but I was there and other people reported it that big and there are pictures so i mean what else do you want?
