I went by my local surfshop the other day and asked what a good surfboard for a beginner surfer would be. The salesman suggested the 7'2" NSP funboard. I wanted to get a secod opinion on them. So let me know. Thanks

is that a soft board? If you have never skated or snowboarded and are the least bit out of shape I'd go with an 8 ft........you will learn quicker......just please start by catching white water in AT LEAST WAIST DEEP OR HIGHER WATER. (i saw guys today floppin on there boards in knee high water and were going over the front sumersalt style,,,,,,duh you got a fin draggin lmfao)

NSP = New Surf Project... CNC machined and vacume bag Epoxy pop outs from the factory... not a bad starter board, a little stiff for my taste. Given your limited experiance (including your skateboard experiance) I would not go any less than a 7'6". Phil is a good surfer and pretty right on when he offers up a board, but I still think you should try for a 7'6" or an 8'. The extra length will help you out on those really small days and you wont have to work as hard in the beginning while you build up the back and shoulder stamina. Good luck and hope to see you out there!

Thanks for the advice johnnytoobad. I met up with McM Surf & Skim earlier today and he was telling me about a 7 foot 6 inch at a pawn shop for a great price I will more than likely purchase. And I was planning on heading out Wednesday after class. It will be my 3rd time surfing. Ill keep an eye on it and make sure I dont end up screwing myself over. Thank you both

I will more than likely go to the jetties. If It looks a little rough I will find somewhere else and surf some whitewater. Just kinda get the hang of it. I will most definetly surf wednesday though.

I was looking at them when I went to rent a board yesterday afternoon. Ill definetly invest in one. I did go out yesterday and it pretty good surf for a beginner. I most definetly need to go out more and PRACTICE. I had tons of fun and thats all that matters.
