who cares? I can't believe everyone is just complaining about this guy nonstop, it's stupid. I thought we're all surfers and bodyboarders and not some whiny little b*tches crying about how some guy is posting too much on a forum. Just don't respond to him, he'll take the hint eventually

im going to repost what i said in the last thread:

honestly the way you guys are reacting to gruvi is pretty ridiculous. if you're so "annoyed" by his two threads up right now, why are you even reading them. if you see a post with his name under it, just ignore it if it stresses you out that much. go about your business on the forum like you usually would and don't go into these threads hunting for gruvi's crazy posts.

this poll is just childish. by making it your only throwing gas into the fire

Exactly. Grow up kids. The people complaining about him and making fun of him are way more annoying than he is.

I agree with some aspects of nd081. Who cares as long as he hasn't committed any legal or ethical infractions. But I stand by my assertion that he is not a mentally healthy person. Most young men try to imitate and behave like others in the group they are trying to belong to, this goob continues to slide backwards and is intentionally attempting to get a reaction so that he receives more attention. This could be an indicator of future criminal behavior.

every argument above is based on the assumption he is real and not a troll.

Doubtful. If he is a troll, then he isn't very good at it. He is just a weird nooB.

    "if i may..."
he's whacked out for sure, but the banter following his posts is quite entertaining…

Ok.. So i have sent a few nasty posts about him throughout these last few dozen posts he has put up. But I have had a bit of a change of heart. I deffinitly think that when he starts spamming the site with his non-sense then he should be banned for atleast 48 hours. But, given the attention he has gotten and the entertainment he has brought along with him I think he should be alowed to stay. I wouldn't say that he has "earned" acceptance. More like stumbled upon it. Non the less, i consider him apart of the team at this point.

I've lurked here for years, and may have even signed up previously, but forgot what the account details were, so this time around, I'm CaptJAQ. So yes, I'm newly registered, but as I've been surfing since 1975, I think I get a little "water cred".

We were all kooks at one point.

Here's how I see the Gruvi situation:
    1. Gruvi is an overly enthusiastic, late to the table kook.
    2. English is not his first language, so add in some communication problems.
    3. He over-thinks everything, and has often made up his mind before asking for advice, when he asks for advice, he is actually hoping that we all answer with the conclusion that he has reached.
    4. Because he is an adult, and has unbridled enthusiasm for his new-found passion of surfing, he is willing to forgo the amount of crap that has been shoveled upon him here.

My advice to gruvi: try to temper your enthusiasm when posting here, and only ask questions when you actually are seeking advice.

My advice to the gruvi haters: ignore him. I agree that the "ban this clown" posts have become more annoying than what they're protesting. If you see a gruvi thread that bothers you, don't post on it saying "this bothers me", just ignore it and let it sink to the bottom of the forum.

Lastly... I believe that he was joking when he said he "got pitted" (and broke his board).

Gruvi reminds me very much of Buddy, Will Ferrel's elf character in "Elf."

[some] doth protest too much methinks...

seriously, if you can't read the thread originator tag and simply choose to move on, maybe that says more about your own issues than his. whether he's real or not, for some his posts and comments are entertaining enough that they do respond. move on to something else if you are not amused...this forum and anything on it are not THAT important in the scheme of things.

that was a total senior member move to make the poll...well done! I've noticed all the junior members are the ones that *****, wine, and complain all the time...can't we just go back to 2008 ...

i dont think gruvi needs to temper anything. just because groovi doesnt subscribe to a culture of negativity and cynicism doesnt mean that there is something wrong with him. i bet he is happy in his life and doesnt need to be angry at the world. good for him. after reading some of the posts i bet some of the groovi haters probably have to deal with their miserable lives that they have no power to change, bang their fat nasty wives etc. i suppose i would be angry at anyone that was happy too. maybe there is something to be learned from groovi. like how to be nice to one another.

i also dont want to take anything away from all of the positive people that posted helpful threads and shared some really cool thoughts on things related to surfing.

I totally agree- we were all beginners at one point and kooks... im sure we all had the same kinds of questions but had never asked anyone. Just let him go - at least its entertaining and if you dont like it- no one is forcing you to read.

Actually im giving gruv props- no one else would stick around as long as him- im going to be looking out at belmar to surf with him.

You cant ban him anyways- he is a senior member

It really simple Just put him on your ignore list and then you wont see any of his post and most of you wont have to piss and moan about his post. Yeah the guy is a little overboard but I just think that he is super stoked . Yeah his questions are a little redunant and can be answered by the "search " function the forum has but I guess he just dont know any better or maybe this is his first time using a message board . Who know but all I do know is that there are easier things that can be done is you dont wanna be bothered with his post than b*^tch
