gruvi just stop. Read the forums. Post when you have something that you actually think we care about. Surfing is not a group hug. Nobody is going to hold your hand in your attempt to stop being a kook, (but you are likely just a barney). You do seem interested in etiquette and improvement so that actually excludes you from the kook category. Want to learn how to surf like the pros? Watch them. Over and over. Watch all of the surf movies that you can get your hands on. Read books by the greats like Occy and Gerry Lopez and Slater. Go surfing all of the time. You can surf in onshores, it's just not very glamorous. If you can shred in chop than you can really unload when you get some good waves. You have stoke and that means that you will learn. Don;t waste it on a forum, wax up and surf more. Surf surf surf, but shut the f*ck up!!!
yeah I think between 1st street and the north end VB can't handle another barney. The ocean will explode.
hold on! Does Gruvi surf in Virginia Beach? Is he from Pennsylvania? Does he just take road trips? Does he have aspergers or maybe autism? His email sounded kind out of touch. It sounded like when people humor handicapped folks becuase they want to be nice...
\r\n \r\nhappens to the best of us.. and don\'t kid yourself. It has happened to aalllll of us. Don\'t worry tho. If you stick with this and get your water time in next hurricane season will be your best. That will be your next chance at tackling OH. I remember last year during Igor I paddled out in OH and damn near sh*t myself. But I went out on Sunday and caught my fair share of bombs. What scared me sh*tless last year got me stoked out of my mind this year. That was some serious satisfaction for me. I remember you posting that you aren\'t sure if your going to surf winter or not. If you think you are serious about surfing you had better go buy a winter wetsuit. No one ever got good by throwing in the towel for 5 monthes out of the year. I promise you if put the water time in, by next hurricane season the same waves that denied you this year will seem alot more fun then scary.
i dont see why this thread wasnt locked from the opening post. there was no question asked, no information to be shared. he just told a story. MODS- do u want a bunch of threads in your forums that completely lack content? what if 10 more gruvis showed up and started posting pointless banter about every second of their surf experience? the forum would be useless with all the clutter. i dont care about gruvi as a member, but this thread should be locked.
if no one responds it will stop, but it is disappointing so many here are still falling for it or enjoying it or both after this long.page 6 of the thread, like, great story, right, yet no one's ever seen this 'person' in belmar or ai,have they?
great to hear G - keep trying to paddle out- no matter the conditions- thats how you learn the best!!! Your story brought back some memories of the first hurricane season that I surfed in IS Beach Park. Some how I made it outside of an 8ft day, perfect and offshore- then I questioned why I paddled out since it was too big for me at the time and no one else was out in the area... so I manned up and dropped into a wave- and rode it- still remember that wave to this day! my advise still stands- get a longboard! You will learn much quicker! And a 5mil suit- at the rate your going, I better see you out in belmar this winter! did anyone else notice how Gruvi's threads are always the longest!?
Chincoteague is small and out of season. Iv'e surfed there 4 times the last 2 days iv'e only saw 2 pa tags. One a suburu the other a maroon pathfinder i think. 1 of them has to be gruvi haha.
I don't feel my thread is lacking any content related to mid atlantic surfing at all. I do read that some very few here are just angry mood types and that's on you and the kindness from the majority here outweighs you pessimists thankfully! As to content for surf in mid atlantic, I am at AI now with no one surfing in sight. Waves are currently waist high and breaking about 150 feet off beach. They are breaking to the left currently. Water is warm with wind gusts making air feel colder than the 60 F my car thermo is telling. Feels like 50 F. I'm going out later after high tide wanes this evening and hope to run into some others surfing here. Thanks to all guys keeping the positive vibes and advice without condemnations
I was the only one there this morning surfed 8 till 1030 going back around 5pm today. The swell suppose to pick up a touch making it alittle more rideable later. Ill be in the white honda fit with black and red wetsuit quad fish. Im gonna get pitted.. sooooo pitted. haha
Hi Mark Neither one is me. Lots of PA tags here today too. Keep looking...if you find me I will share some pizza with you after sharing some surf stoke G
