The guy on the couch is the best one. That's currently the view at my home break. Back and forth back and forth right in my line of view. It's really starting to bother me.

would you like potatoes with that?

fat old guy on couch is hilarious....nice paunch!! i think the circle pic would look more spot-on if the circle were red with a diagonal line through it.

okay so i know everyone is going to hate me. But going out for a paddle on a sup isn't that bad. I tried one this summer on a super small day just to see how it is. Its actually not that bad. I would never though take one out into the lineup or ride one near anyone else surfing. Normally just find a empty sand bar or go out on super small days. but i would never choose that over my regular boards or add it to my quiver just too expensive. but they are good work out too

I never ran into a problem with sups. Down here in va beach there are a bunch but never where I go...maybe I unconciously avoid them? Yesterday I went out and there was 3 but they all stayed down a block or two and avoided the rest of the surfers. I wouldn't mind getting one for exercise purposes for when it's flat, but I have no room and a car

I never had a problem with them until they are patrolling 20 yards outside the normal take off spot. Even when I have surfers on either side of me I still have a clear line of view to the horizon and can get a feeling of solitude. Not easy to do when there is a guy going back and forth in front of you whether he takesthe wave I want or not.

Yeah Dean! Ha ha I am not kidding when I say this, you are the only guy on a sup that I have seen lined up with the surfers not in front and that sat on your board from time to time with the paddle across your lap. The guy i have been seeing down there stands way out side literally right in front of me.

I've dropped in on my fair share this year. I can't stand having a wave cherry-picked time after time by those idiots and their boats.

Ya it sucks to have to deal with the non surfer SUPers.....but somehow, I think things will work themselves out .
I'm surprised at the numbers these days, and somehow they always paddle over to me !!! ....and I paddle farther down the beach .......aaannd they follow....WTF !

Ha ha I could see that happening, they just want a friend since everyone else is shunning them. Tell them your not a SUP'er your just riding a big fish with a paddle.

SUPs have their place, and can be a lot of fun. But a novice SUPer, with no leash, in the lineup with surfers, hogging waves... ain't it. Unfortunately, that's the exposure most surfers have with SUPers. It's the ones out a half mile surfing some shoal alone in peace that nobody sees... and that's what's great about them. You can easily get to spots that you can't prone paddle to. We're the lazy ones... we just want to park our car and jump in the water.

I've SUPed outer shoals, secluded sandbars, patch reefs... with nobody around and on a small day, it's great. But I think it's totally obnoxious and inappropriate to show up and paddle out into a lineup of surfers. Sailboarders and kitesurfers know better... why haven't the SUPers caught on? Like a lot of other things in our sport... it's just bad etiquette.

Gotta say, thats really funny. It's just the opposite here. My buddies and I make it a point to surf away from the prone paddlers by least a half block, sometimes more. Sure enough after we start catching waves here they come like moths to a flame. Their mentality must be, "wow those guys are catching waves, it must be better over there". So we end up paddling down another half block or more and guess what? Yep you guessed it, here they come again paddling down to us, because it must be soooooo much better.
I just don't get all this hate, cant we all just get along? lol
It's really funny how people start hating those that do anything new, or aren't doing the same thing that they are, but I gotta tell ya, SUP is here to stay. So if you really want to do something constructive, educate the "non-surfer SUP'ers" by letting them know what they are doing wrong, gently at first, and then a bit more assertive if they don't get the hint.
Face it, the waves don't belong only to the boogie boarders, or the short boarders, or the long boarders or the SUP/waveski/surf kayakers. Try surfing with a little less hate and a little more Aloha.

If nobody embraced new idea's we'd still be living in caves and eating raw meat.

I usually just say something to the guy nicely. It works better than having a hissy fit.

no doubt, we need to get together and teach them some freakin' manners... It's ridiculous on a weekend.
