i got sick recently and started using it after a surf.not sure if it really works, but surfing dirty water and then cleaning it all out with saline solution makes sense.to prevent sickness, develop daily habits.get fresh air outdoors, exercise, stay fit,eat natural food, get a good night's sleep, take leisure breaks to relax, surf as much as possible.Surfing is a healthy habit!

I use one when I'm sick. It does help to clear your sinuses. It takes some getting used to, it's an odd feeling pouring water into your nose, lol.

Definitely works to clean out your sinuses. I use it after most sessions and whenever I feel like I need it, feel so much better afterwords. Make sure not to use it if your nose is so stuffy that you cant breathe through it, the water will get stuck up there and cause more sinus problems. I love mine though, feels great afterwords!

Works like a charm, use it every morning, 2x a day during peak allergy seasons. After storm session, or even after a few hours of sanding or being around tons of dust.

Takes some getting used to, remember to keep your mouth open to equalize the pressure.

Thing saved my butt, or at least my head.

i'm a fan as well. got turned on to it a couple years back & i've noticed a marked decrease in sinus infections since. could be coincidence, could be the neti pot. i don't have enough info to say for sure.

Nothing quite like water boarding yourself; bottom line though is it works and is much cheaper than a visit to the doc in the box.

I just use the salt mixture packets that it comes with and although it says use previously boiled water, I use luke warm tap water. Does anyone know if it really makes a difference?

It works if you use it daily and don't wait 'till you are stuffed up.
It should come with NeilMed sinus rinse packets, should have sodium chloride/bicarbonate (had to look at mine) so to me actually smells like salt water..

btw, Thursday looks sick for VAB

yes, the salt makes a difference. Use non iodized salt, and the amount they suggest. I just buy the containers of salt, they package for the neti pots - its convenient. If you use too little or too much of the salt, then it can sting - and its not pleasant. Also, make the water luke warm... Too warm, and it will be painful.

I use it every day I have the netti pot and I I have the Bottle too. I perfer the netti bottle cause It gets more out I think. I have notice a huge reduction in headachs and sinus infection since I have been using it . For it to work right you have to use it everyday like the other have said

neti pots? not much proof in the pudding. flushing salt water through a nose is not very natural. if you surf dirty water, then the possibility of getting sick is that...a possibility.

I swear by the sauna. It is the key to staying healthy and there is tons of proof that it works. Steam rooms are great, but not many around.

I started using the sauna as part of my training. Kills bacteria in the nasal passages and bronchial tubes/throat. I always use it after I surf. Helps drain the salt water OUT of my nose in opposition of the neti that poors water back in...and that doesn't make sense to me.

mix it up and go Swedish. 10 minutes in the sauna followed by 2 minutes of ice cold shower. Repeat 3 times. You will never use a neti again.

I generally try and get the sauna up to 170 degrees plus by splashing water on the rocks. As long as you are healthy, this will keep the cold away and or get rid of the one you have.

you want my advice? neti pots are not healthy!!!

believe me... i've gone through my share of sinus/allergy troubles... and plenty of ENT and allergists will vouch for the safety and their usefulness. Flushing your nasal passages can be helpful. Just make sure you get the water to drain, or else its just going to be sitting in there. After you do the rinse, bend down and touch your toes for a minute, and then raise your arms to the sky. Do this a couple times, and you'll get some good drainage.

    But, saunas are good too!
