CRAZY crowds in OCMD this PM....Surf wasn't really that great to justify that many people in the water

probably all the hype from yesterday...the current yesterday was sick, drifted 15 blocks in about 25 minutes...i must have walked 75 blocks yesterday...i think i walked more than i surfed.

There was nobody around me in the PM in OC and it wasn't terrible, but yea I wouldn't want to be in a crowd with the average small surf we had tonight.

LBI was super fun today. Chest to shoulder, head sets, a fair bit of drift in the am but when you got a shoulder it was a rocket ride. Even better in the afternoon, especially once the right jetty was found, straight offshore, no current, a turkey shoot.

To hell with ocmd, i think i will never waste my energy there again. Too many helmets with scowls on their faces, too much replenished beach shoredump, and such an unnatural break in most spots that it is only fun when the swell includes five feet of storm surge under you. The only guy I ever want to see there is Big Wave Dave, because he is the epitome of coolness in the water. Everybody else is just too busy scrapping over very limited resources. Jersey has far more breaks, and the plentitude of places to surf spreads out the crowd, much like the outer banks. The crowd, by the way, i gotta say is the least territorial and friendliest local scene in the continental US. Call me crazy, but there aren't many places on either coast I haven't surfed and that's my assessment.

good stay in jersey with those natural jetty breaks. it aint always shoredump if ya know where to be and when to be there. if youre getting stink from people and it bugs you either stop doing what youre doing or move.and oh by the way,big wave dave is a totally annoying wave hog on a 12 foot boat that has never done a turn. straight off adolph.

Had an awesome session in Monmouth County yesterday afternoon! There were plenty of makeable barrells and I saw a few guys getting completely slotted. I pulled into a closeout and when I came up my whole wetsuit leg was rolled up to my knee, can't say thats ever happened to me before haha

Happy to take your advice rip. Pretty well versed in wave etiquette, and though certain I do nothing to warrant "quitting what i'm doing" or moving, or deserving the stink, I've come to the conclusion that the good folk of OC are not necessarily at fault for, nor are they all, by any means, emanating the "stink"...they're just like any other creature of the earth fighting over some nut they all need to subsist that grows on only one or two trees. And therefore some of them, more than I see elsewhere, don't seem to be having all that much fun. Delaware's much the same, if not worse. I've seen 'em literally slapping each other accidentally trying to take off on the jetty at Herring point, mostly because a few storms have changed the bars enough that everbody's compressed to a single take off point on most swells (though I think that's one spot that's coming back) So I'm going to do my part and allow them some more elbow room down there on 36th and 48th, and all the other little secret bars that come and go in OC....by not even bothering. The last wave I rode down on about 35th and a half st., after last year's latest futile effort to reverse mother nature's movement of sand with the beach pumping, I literally could have dove out of the little shack I was trying to duck into and scored a touchdown on the sand!! I think I'm gonna surf in a Ravens jersey and carry a football if I paddle out down there again any time soon. So I get the angry looking helmets all over, even empathize with them. At the same time, I'll say lighten up y'all. We ain't curing cancer here. By the way, I agree BWD rides something like the Lusitania, (So do I when I feel like it) and yea, he goes straight a lot. But he's definitely having more fun than you, or me, or anybody else out there for that matter, and I like it because it's contagious, unless you're just too miserable to take part in the buzz. You should be happy there's a guy like that in the water, lest you implode in your sorrow.
