delaware was frigid. most people including myself were wearing 3/2's.

i've noticed a lot of variability between different spots.

There have been days recently in ocmd that were insanely different. For instance I Dp'd it uptown one day bareback, and went down to 45th that afternoon with only a set of trunks and didn't stop shivering the whole time. Kind of sucks because I've made the wrong call on gear a few times and have ended up freezing or hot as hell. But I wouldn't really complain because last year I can't remember any days that were real warm like the ones we've had so far.

Suppa Chilly in Sea Girt dis mornin

:eek:wow what a difference from this weekend, the south wind gets on it and it doesn't take long for that upwelling to start, I will take cold water and waves anyday, rather than warm water and dismal surf.

    Forget the Bouys!

It's just a grand conspiracy to get the tourista's to come to the beach. Besides, we don't surf or swim at the Bouy do we? OCM was NOT 74 degrees in the surf zone at any time in the past five days unless you're sitting off the end of the inlet jetty on an outgoing tide with the sea grass swirling around you. Even then, the temps at depth were most likely in the low sixties. Even the guards were complaining. Lest any of us forget, Last July 19 we were still wearing full 3/2 wetsuits, for a really good reason. The up side is that it was warm through November, so who's complaining?

i don't understand NJ water sometimes... last time I was up there was almost a month ago and there I was in a 3/2 and boots. my bottom half was fine but my top half was sweltering in a humid 96 degree air temp. the guy next to me was wearin full gear including gloves and a cap, and the guy on the other side of me was only wearin boardies. wtf

i am really happy i live in nc now... water at this time of year is shorts only at both south nc and the outer banks. maybe you'll see someone with a shirt or rash guard on but that's about it, it's really not necessary to wear anything else although you will still hit a cold patch of water from time to time in town around nags head and kdh.

The water temp changes hourly. For example early morning yesterday was cold. It warmed up to 71.9° yesterday. I use a weather station on a pier right down the street from where i live It gives very detailed info on pretty much everything. This morning right now the temp is 62.3° and will climb up to the 70's again today. So the water temps i get are not buoys and the temps are taken where the breaks are.

It ain't cold here in DE as long as the sun is out. If your trunking it and you should be the only reason you are cold is that you're wet and above the water waiting for a set to come. The wind gets you cold, if you submerge you're fine. It's cold when you start going numb after being flushed in the winter time.

Yep, that would be he. Haven't seen him all that much this year. I've seen his son JT several times, but not Chris. This one was from 7/19/07:
