I just had door keys made today after reading this. My new suit has pocket on leg. Or I my use rope around neck trick. Glad my truck has key without fob available. Thanks for the great idea.

thanks to this thread I have been using the key around the neck trick....wonderous. way better than taking a back pack out to the beach each day.

I use the valet key usually but when I rented a car and only had an electronic one, I wrapped it up in the corner of a towel and took that and a water bottle to the beach and left it on the sand. To anyone walking by, it just looks like a towel and a water bottle, no one would think there was a key wrapped in there.

Yeah they would actually. I'd actually assume there was keys, cellphone, and hopefully a wallet in there with credit cards. Have your cards completely wiped out before you get out of the ocean.

Its a terrible idea to leave anything on the beach unattended.

Local, no problem, almost everybody has a plan, or learned one on this thread.

Rentals are another story. You get the electric key and the crazy "cable" keychain/tag.

Hard to stick in boardies, and you're already a target when you pulled up.

So after reading this thread, I bought that masterlock combo key safe, looks like that's going in the luggage.
