I am not from there but have lived there off and on before I moved down here. I have bounced around a lot with jobs and school. Hopefully va beach will be my final resting place. I liked oc a lot, but it is dead in the winter time. there is a lot more to do here year round

Well, still looking for a comment from one of the drop-in yahoos. Must be someone who wants to rationalize it???

In Buddhism, they call them "seekers"... samsara... They're caught up in the hustle... the frantic, peaceless struggle for something that they will never attain by virtue of the struggle itself. Like a dog that chases a rabbit every time it sees one. Because the dog simply can't ever catch the rabbit, it will be tortured it's whole life.

Burning someone never gave anyone their perfect wave.

ok...if you say so. i grew up here & have lived the majority of my adult life here. i clearly have no clue wtf i'm talking about...

no, it wasn't me. 6 years ago i was living in costa rica. i can only rarely be found on the boardwalk for any reason other than to cross it. i also neither know nor care what gessler's or the kelly bro's pizza preference is. i never claimed to be a "connoisseur" & in fact almost never even eat pizza. like super fish said, i'd rather eat at rojo's. but if i am going to have pizza, it's going to be either all natural pizza (on asbury ave), mario's (on bay), or piccini (on west). just b/c it's on the boardwalk doesn't mean it's any good. boardwalk=tourist trap 9x out of 10.

true, but very few hobbies or past times are as unabashedly selfish & self-serving as surfing is. i'd wager that every serious surfer on this or any other site has either blown off or shown up beyond fashionably late to "important" functions like work or events w/ family or a significant other in order to surf. when was the last time you heard of a bowler doing something like that?

thanks. it's all about the local knowledge...

You are being unrealistic....and an a**hole local so chill out nobody likes bad energy in the water for any reason...some people just drop in because they don't know any better so calm down.

When I was in Barbados, I blantantly dropped in on a boogieboarder. In my head, I partly justified it because he was another tourist, like me. The wave was really lining up nice for me, so I just said "F it, I'm taking this". I certainly wouldn't call it a perfect wave, but I ended up having an epiphany about backside surfing on the wave. I actually think the fact that I was dropping in helped -- it forced me to hold a higher line, otherwise I would've came down right on top of the guy. I did apologize afterwards.

I have a question, why manco & manco now, why not just manco? Just sounds stupid now. It's like Johnson's (which is crap btw) tourist money grab. Anyway 3 bro's is the large pizza place, and sjb are you starting an armchair surfer movement? Sitting at home watching on a cam and *****ing about etiquette, get wet or shut it!

The way someone acts in the water gives you a pretty good indication of what kind of person they are in general. from my experience. sad there are alot of aholes . but more cool. Id rather surf a lesser wave to myself than have to hassle for a crowded spot.

Crowds are something that everyone needs to learn to deal with. Its not like is ****ing a surf resort you have to pay money to like enjoy. Gauge the people you are surfing with and write them off accordingly. I don't mean drop in, though I personally have been guilty if the waves are good and this guy can't even get a friggin wave. I read the first page of this and just wanted to say that it was thigh high at wb with summer summer summertime crowds ok. I couldn't believe it.

Wait until that new 9th st bridge is fully open...it will make it even easier for people to go to OC. But then word on the street is that theres the mother of all beach replenishments coming 2012/2013. Might send everybody somewhere else.

Njsurfer42, I know dude you are the f'ing man. I lived in Ocean City for one year and in no way claimed to ever be an OC local. I have periodically frequented your town since 1986. OC used to suck. It was always 2-4 feet smaller than further north. Weak as hell too. I haven't been in OC in two years because it is too crowded these days and there are better spots around.

Are you the representative Ocean City guy. Not everybody in Ocean City thinks they know everything like you do. I would just love to know about this mysterious, spot that you scored yesterday. Yesterday sucked. The winds didn't even start coming up from the south until Friday morning then went HARD offshore by 3:00pm. How could your "local knowledge" payed-off. Are you going to dispute, that unless something has changed in the past two years, that mid-island OC completely sucked(sucks).

You don't eat pizza but you know all about it. OK. Listen OC tourists aren't from Kansas. They are from SE PA, NJ, and New York........which happen to be the states that make up the darn tootinist pizza eating place in the world. They know their pizza. So, pray tell, who has three locations and has them lined up out the doors?

Oh dude you are so cool man, you don't go on the board walk. Only on those days when your magical Ocean City secret spots aren't working. Man the boardwalk offseason is twitchen, dude. Dude, you are friggin cool. I was only kidding about the dude on the bike who slandered M&M's. Of course you were living in Costa Rica.....of course. I guess you're a world traveler who still gets excited about a knee high day at Ocean City secret spots.

Dude, the world needs you. You seem to know everything based on all of the posts I've seen from you.

    2. mack & manco's pizza sucks. & it's over priced. i don't know a single *real* local who likes it.
u lkike everything when ur drunk. foodwise i guess
    3. oc is more than the 1-1.5 mile stretch from waverly to 7th street. seek. explore. there's more out there.
where is this place is sounds amazing

Well, not many drop in punks have chimed in. One confession from someone that I'm pretty sure said they weren't good enough to surf steep waves in some other thread. I think.

Yo, dudeman another beach replenishment project. Wow....OC tends to fair ok from the small ones they have done recently. But a huge one........wow.......Imagine that. NJsurfer42's secret OC magic spots may be ruined.

OK say if OC's waves are destoyed. Where would all y'all go? OMG where would everyone go. That could be bad. Most people couldn't even locate my spot but this is not good. Ocean City spots house the majority of South Jersey's surfers during every swell. Where would they go? I sugggest they quit surfing. Wow, all of those dudes let lose on the rest of SJ. I'll just have to start hyping the places in Ocean and Monmouth counties and romaticize the road trip.....let those guys up there deal with them all.

No I'm not sure if it's the same person or not. But it probably is because, unlike NJsurfer42, I do know everything.

Is that an original quote or someone's else's? The ****ing with the crowds and the girlfriends one.....

Oh and I really don't have to complain about crowds. I'm just doing Public Service for those that need it. My spot gets crowded in the summer, of course.......After Labor Day, it thins a bit.......then by the end of September it thins alot more......then everyone goes away by mid-October. Dudes, from Oct 15 until Dec 12 I saw a total of five people out when I was out. HA suck on those figures Ocean City jetty dwellers. But Ocean City is way better than where I surf. Ocean City is the cream of South Jersey. Look at all the shredder-number-ones it produces.
