what you fail to realize is that if jersey could, it would separate itself from north jersey and south jersey. from sports teams, accents, and things called water ice vs italian ices. there are stark differences even within NJ's borders.

We almost moved to N Carolina. Nice place but the schools in the south ranked very poorly compared to the North East. It's also funny to note that no one hates Jersey Guido/ Bennies more than surfers and locales from the beach...when they say "going down to the shore" it gives us douche chills.

"I am from NJ. I curse... a lot. I say "yo", and I say it often. I never had school on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. I sure as hell don't pump my own gas. I know what real pizza tastes like, and I know that a bagel is much more than a ****!n' roll with a hole in the middle. I judge people by what exit they get off the parkway. I can navigate a circle--with attitude. All good nights must end at a diner--preferably with cheese fries. It's a sub, not a hoagie or, worse yet, a hero, and I wash it down with soda, not pop. Two words... "mother fu(ker." I don't go to the beach, I go down the shore. And boardwalk brawls are just a part of the atmosphere. Yes, I drink cawfee. I know that 65mph really means 80. I've always lived within 10 minutes of a mall. When someone cuts me off, they get the horn AND the finger. And they expect it. I am from New Jersey, and damn proud of it."

They say we smell? Yeah, we do. NJ smells like ASS. on the turnpike, between exits 14 and 17. that's like, 5 percent of the entire state.. bayonne, port newark, and secaucus. and the surrounding areas. that's it. the majority of the state smells like trees. because the majority of the state is trees. in fact, three of new jersey's cities rank in the countries top 10 least polluted cities. So shove it.
What else? giants, jets, nets, and of course the devils. they're better than you. so shut the **** up. and we have more yankee fans than new york city. come to jersey with a sox hat on .. i dare you.

To sum up new jersey. yeah, most of the stereotypes are true, probably for about 5 percent of the state. the rest of the state is beautiful. and yeah, we hate you. we love ourselves. wanna know why? because all you *****es hate us. how would you feel if the other 49 states spent all their time talking ****? we deserve to be our own country cause we're that cool.
southerner visiting new jersey: "whoa, this state moves too fast for me."
jerseyian: "yo, fu(k you, go grow some corn."

new yorker visiting new jersey: "i can't believe you guys think you're beter than us."
jerseyian: :: punches new yorker in the face ::

pennsylvanian visiting new jersey" "haha, you guys smell."
    jerseyian: "fu(k you, you're a hick."

    Jersey keeps it real

    Hahahaha....I like it!

I love surfing all the different breaks with my friends who are locals @ each break from Hatteras to NY. The individual's of each area are unique & many times very different, but each offers something different that the MAJORITY of the time makes the session, trip better than a regular session @ home.

There is a HUGH difference between north jersey & south jersey for that matter but when I surf up north I see little difference other than the scenery. I dont see a lot of difference between surfers from anywhere in the world once your in the water.

    good point.

    but,
i'm getting a chilly vibe from the southern states. There's speak of seceding from the midatlantic union eh? Are NJers all that bad? Did we offend anyone here?

I like hearing info and concepts from different parts of our coast. I'm right in the middle. Chincoteague. Everyone has smart and dumb stuff to say. It keeps us all moving and growing and... hopefully makes better surfers!!!!!

Yeah, we secede every new moon, on federal holidays, every leap year (yeah, that just happened) and for most major sporting events. You know, it's a tradition.

But, you are forgetting Hawaiians. They are secessionists and they are located at a much more Southern latitude than any other Southern state, so you do have a point.

I also forgot that "Northerners" live in perfect cultural and racial h.o.mogeny (yeah, the auto-mod won't let you spell ****geny because it begins with h o m o). Every block is a perfect, intertwined example of American multiculturalism. Everyone holds hands while singing kumbaya and watching unicorns fly through the sky adorning them with the rainbows spewing from their posteriors. History has shown that the gated community was, in fact, NOT an idea that came from Northerners--AND--larger cities like NYC do not, in fact, have long histories of segregation by national heritage.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Harhar, I can't believe I had things backwards this whole time! What an epiphany!

@marksharky: Best post I have read in a long time. You're the man. Just stop telling everyone how nice and beautiful Northwestern NJ is, it needs to stay secret to remain protected.
