That's a nice compliment to the "Drunk" thread going on right now. The guy you see shotgunning a beer bites it on the take off right after that, then there is a picture of him on a knee high wave, and that's all you see of him on a surfboard in the rest of the clip. I guess the moral of the story is don't waste a unique opportunity to surf a mysto wave by shotgunning beers beforehand.
Ive always wondered what it looked like when it was going off there. thanks for the photos. Anybody in the VB area have a boat? im down for an adventure when there's a swell window for this place
im from vb and id be willing to split the costs of a charter boat with some people to get to it. i never surfed it for the very reason of accessibility and that im not rich enough to hire a charter on my own or buy a boat. i thinks its silly that the authorities make surfing these places so difficult. It may be a coincidence but the other point break setups on this stretch of coast that have similar problems of accessibility. Annoys me.
Isabel, Sept 2003, on the road from Hatteras to OC, peeling right along. Grabbed the camera for a couple of quick shots.
Yea maybe this summer during a hurricane swell and while im working i would be down to split the costs. icould probably get one of my friends on it too
757, im down for goin in with ya on a charter. i know at least one person who would def be down for it. the time of year doesnt matter to me but it seems to me that it would take a monstrous south swell with longer periods from something like a hurricane for it not to be broken up and connect all the way.
Guys there isba shipwreck there be careful at least thats what I heard frombone of my uncles wh has surfed there
I was out there the other day for a lab for one of my classes. scoped it out and it was actually kinda breaking. small but dammit, it made me wanna surf there even more!! I also scoped out some other spots that were breaking too. I hope a swell big enough and in the right direction hits it soon.
yea haha. its a nature preserve. you step one foot on their without permission from the man and you get a felony.
You cant get there by car. Its about a 1-2 mile paddle from the nearest boat ramp and walking on the island is only permitted on guided nature tours.
I surfed the point at Toms Cove last September! What a wave! Nice long lefts and actually quite easy to catch. Wouldve loved to have surfed it during Ophelia caue it was actually breaking at the inside point and wrapping around into to cove. Pelican island was also going off. Of course right outside was awesomea and powerful surf.
no voting, passport, or owning a gun for walking on fisherman's island. 757 Surfer, u still down to get a charter boat there if and when it starts breaking? idk, judging by this past season it may be hurricane season that it starts breaking
been watching this place like a hawk. We almost got lined up last year but the wind switch Southeast. My fishing buddies also told me there are a ton of sharks right off that point. Should be fun
yea man i'm definitely down. i actually talked with one of my friends whose off at school right now and we could probably go exploring with his boat when he gets back in may. he lives in Chesapeake right on the Elizabeth river so we can literally take it straight through norfolk all the way out there. I go fishing with him over there every so often. but if he will actually wanna take it out when the ocean/bay could be rough is a different story but that is an option. but if a swell arises this summer and i have some money i'm definitely ready to do this.
