I am not based in SD but I figured since you guys are dedicated surfers I could find out from you... What is the best / largest Global Surfing forum? Why am I asking? I do not know how to surf or have ever learned. I have been through college, grad school, work etc for way too long. I want to take 2-3 months off and go somewhere in the world where: - I can learn to surf... - Learning / Lessons would be relatively cheaper - Living would be cheaper (in terms of dollar exchange rates) - Is hopefully safe (Dont get kidnapped, ****ed over Turistas style) - Can find a similar Peer Group who would help to learn surf, make friends, do other things when the Surf Day is over. I just feel like GETTING AWAY from this Concrete Life for a while.. Maybe for long. Hopefully I can learn enough / get decent enough in 2-3 months to be able to get back to REGULAR surfing once I starte REGULAR life.
you can learn to surf anywhere there is waves, and anywhere there is waves you find beginner surfers. Now if you are talking about taking a little vacation from life, then what destination suits you? Europe, Caribbean, Central America, Australia? The choices are endless?
The destination that gives me the best Power to Purchase Price Factor. Europe would be much more expensive if I try to spend my US Dollars. e.g. The same amount of Dollars... will go further in say Asia, South America as compared to Europe. Any thoughts?
Hawaii. Without doubt. best place to learn, realativly cheap lesons and always chin high waves to learn on.
my thaughts are costa rica. to put my two sense in i would think costa rica would be a choice. There is a lot of tourism which has its good points and bad. you wont get kidnapped or be threatened but boards love to get stolen there. besides things getting stolen like my camer, shorts, and i pod out of the rental car, you wont find anything but friendly people. i recomend the west shore the town of jaco or surf village dominical. the east shore is nice too.
