if you find a newer one or have one made (best bet), talk to the shaper who's made a few lately.
I cannot ride my old Brewer style single fin anymore because after moving to a later model Merrick, the single fin is SO SLOW- it's like it's stuck in glue. Probably b/c it's got very little rocker, no concave.. you want a modern version.
I know of no one making modern singles these days, but maybe you can find someone who is. Good luck.

check out a 6'6" at wavejammer in lavallette on the website under used boards.tested in great swells and works great, comes with greenough wilderness fin.$299.there's a blog and a youtube video of it being shaped and glassed.

or,a 7'1" at beach house classic in bay head, also on their website under used boards, also ridden in great swells,$350.

both are like new, low price for resin-tint,polished gloss, deep 6 channel bottom double-wing swallowtails.shaped in the past few years, In The Eye,Cape Hatteras.

check 'em out,two totally hot sticks for the price of one crappy rusty 'bali single' or ci sf or sfg2

oh,and Scott Busbey at In The Eye Surfboards,Natural Art Surf Shop,Cape Hatteras shapes the modern high-performance shortboard single fins. He's the best shaper,or at least tied for first place.the rusty 'bali single' and ci sf or sfg2 are modern single fins, but not custom

Hey rich, What kind of single are you looking for, now a days you can find singles as small as 5'0 and as big as 12' logs. Are you going for a performance single fin? Nose Riding? Airs!? do you want an all around shape? like and egg or standard longboard? did you want a huge log to catch every wave possible on for summer? do you want a little nugget to get that slidey feel from the single fin? a performance shortboard single fin for vertical surfing? Tons of options out there for you. Think about what you really want to do with the single fin, how you want to ride, and what you want to accomplish riding it.

get a performance egg single fin. i made one with a round tail 6 ' and it is super fast n holds in waist to overhead. get in waves super early n hold in steep heavy shorebreak too. Feels so good in cutbacks. HIGHLY RECCOMEND

Meh...single fins are a tough deal for me. Love the flow and fun...hate how restricted I felt on them. I mostly have rode shorter modern boards--MSF (generation 1 and 2) and I loved 'em when it was head high--had an older heritage squash tail that worked well, but again felt limited--maybe it was the fin. But anything under that I felt they lacked response and drive (nt., I was riding twins and quads at the time)...to be honest, I bought two MSF hoping they would work for me about two years apart between them (neither did what I wanted--even modified the fin on the second to no avail)...the MSFG2 actually went a bit better--I blame this on the different fin set up/pintail combo. However, I wish I converted my first MSF to a bonzer...probably would have given me a bit more of what I was looking for...and Iwouldn't have sold it.

That may be something you may also want to consider..."bonzer=single fin+" All sorts of varieties in terms of shapes...most who I talk to love 'em...a bit more versatility.

I have had a CI MG2 for years and it is the one board that will never leave my quiver. They dont make them any more but they do make a model called the MSF that is very similar. The G1 is great too.

Single fin short boards are a different buzz. I love them. I find the single easier to transition to from a longboard than the standard issue thruster. I also have a natural tendency to surf more off my front foot than my rear foot. Borrow one from somebody and give it a whirl and if you like the feel, buy one.
