yea theyre out there just last week surfers went out on their boards in the night with chum and they dropped it past the sand bar for shark fishing..that night they caught a 8ft sand tiger off it !!!!
i was surfing at the inlet 2 weeks ago and say a shark fin cost by the font of my board... not a dolphin fin and then i took a wave at the end went o stand up in the water and had my leg brushed by a large fish of some sort i was freaked out but unharmed =]
saw a 5-7" fin flapping around just past the line-up yesterday at assateague. 10-15 yds away. freaked me out a bit and started to paddle in. turned around it was gone. had a few other guys around me so I stayed in the water.
there's been a lot of talk recently about shark sitings in delmarva. I personally have never seen one in delmarva lineups.
So you're saying crowds are a good thing. Probably so, because the more people around you the more the prospective diners have to choose from, thus lessening your chances of becoming dinner.
About two weeks ago I was riding when people on the beach started freaking out. I turned around and saw a maroon/reddish fin criusing around just beside me. I caught the next wave in. I researched it and found out it was most likely a Sandbar shark (different then a sandshark)... the color of the fin had me really confused, but I was close enough to be sure of it. Other than that I haven't seen anything around here (delmarva), but Florida is a VERY different story.
A bro of mine who has been in the water for years and lives in OC said that he saw a shark this Sat while we were in the water at Assateague. He thought it was a 4-5 footer... Didn't slow us down a bit... Shortly after session one we were treated to a school of dolphins surfing the break we were surfing -- they must have caught 6-7 waves before disappearing... Very cool.
Yeah, I was surfing all day on Sat. at Assateague and saw dolphins a number of times. One time, as I was paddling back to the lineup, they were surfing in the wave as it breaking behind them. It was pretty sweet. Didn't see any sharks though.
yeah surfed 'teague all day saturday and sunday, really fun especially with a solid left peak to myself. saw the dolphins got a little sketched out sunday because of some bigger blue jumping in front of me and the wind playing tricks on your mind but got great waves.
