I don't understand why people argue about which is better, they're basically doing the same thing Riding waves. Maybe somebody could explain to me why there's arrangement's on it?

sponging is for little kids. sure theres "pros" out there that rip, heck - george greenough rode an air matress, but lets face it it takes no balls and makes you look like a queer. but to each his own. it is fun, but not as fun as stand up surfing if you ask me.

LOL: when talking to serious bodyboarders, always refer to it as "boogie boarding". It makes them go crazy. I encounter many boogie boarders if I go to Cape May. Why do they all go there?

I would stand up..but then I would be affiliated with the negativity that you all seem so pressed to share with everyone. If you judge someone for what they ride on a wave you are only showing of your own insecurites...maybe this is where the problem lies with anger in the line up...

Part of me does want to stand ..I ride a snowboard pretty well. I just love to bodyboard.
Thing is I have 2 stepdaughters and plan on buying an old used longboard this year for them to learn on..
I will probably learn with them..which is a bonus for me...time with the kids in the water is the best.

I bodyboarded for 25 years. One day I tried my dads longboard and never went back to spongin. Now I ride a 5'10 shortboard most days. I thought bodyboarding was super fun, till I stood up on a wave. No comparison for me.

i agree with t brown - when i was a kid a boogie boarded like most kids do, or body surfed, and then one day i stood up on a surfboard and havent looked back since. way different perspective and sensation if you ask me.

Most of the people with a problem are the bodyboarders. I swear I have never seen or heard In person a serious negative comment about bodyboarding. It's not like my friends and I sit on the beach picking on people bodyboarding, it's really a non issue. Most of the issue comes from bodyboarders feeling disrespected for not being treated as equals in the surfing world. But let's face it, it's not equal, it might be fun but it's not equal to surfing. Imagine a ski slope with skiers and snowboarders and a trend starts among kids sliding down the slopes on those plastic mats while on their bellies. A few adults see it and start companies making pro model sled mats and marketing it as an alternative to skiing and snowboarding. Now the slopes are full of these mats with kids, invalids and old guys sliding by demanding they get treaded as equals. Of course there would be a few young guys jumbling off cliffs with them doing crazy stuff but in general it would not be welcome. I like drop knee bodyboarding, knee boarding on super short poly boards and even skimming is cool but I can't understand laying prone to ride waves .

    1.) Here we go again........................
2.) This is thread 2,000,000,000,000 on this dumb topic, search the topics!
3.) It's clearly obvious that "BOOGIE BOARDING" Is something you do when you are a little kid, something you do when you are still getting a grasp on the ocean. "BOOGIE BOARDING" is what my aunt and grandma do when its real hot out and want to go in for a dip. "BOOGIE BOARDING" is a joke, and when I see a kid in his late teens early 20's or older I just laugh. They dont know what they are missing. If your excuse is your knees are bad ;) please the guy probably cant even stand up... There is no argument here "BOOGIE BOARDING" is for middle aged women and children. Lets get real here......................

Now if you want to talk about body boarding, there is a difference. But if your "BOOGIE BOARDING" on the east coast, thats freakin pathetic!! Get a clue

Also when I see a "BOOGIE BOARDER" get barreled, it doesnt even come close to being as cool as surfing. Sh*T I could just lay there and kick my little legs. Getting barreled on a "BOOGIE BOARD" is like going home and jerking off after a night out, while getting barrelled surfing is more like bringing home that hot a** girl and scoring!
